IDIOTS!!! If DC or NY got hit again they would be the first ones with their hands out saying the rest of the country has to help them rebuild. I would argue that those living in NY and DC are at much greater risk for disaster than NOLAWho are the "THEY" that you are talking about?

The NG needs to be in there taking charge of this situation, restoring order and evacuating people. And you don't think that they are trying to do that? However the first priority is rescue, as it should be.

Well stated. Logistics. Dingy's, boats, ships, and helicopters need fuel/maintenance. This takes time. Those that are first responding (GO USCG!) are doing the best that they can with what they have. I understand the frustration, but things appear from the available photos to be a real mess. Important bridges are out all over and even IF they were able to plug the breaches in the dikes, it could be months before things could be pumped out. USCG is at its best.
