Supporters overshadow protest by radical group
The message they brought was hate.
The words they used meant to hurt.
But the answer they got was 'we don't,' and 'not here.'
A protest on Sunday by a group of religious extremist who used the funeral of a soldier killed in Iraq as a platform for their vitriolic anti-homosexual and anti-military message, prompted a spontaneous counter-protest by Morgan County residents

Three Westboro Church members were dragging U.S. flags on the ground, occasionally walking on them and rubbing them in the dirt.
But the protestors were far outnumbered.

God bless this poor dead hero and his family, and grant repentance to these others.
this was barely touched on by the stations in Indpls... only that there were a few protesters
Maybe there's some invisible gas in the air that we just don't know about that causing all this looney left stuff. Maybe the Chardonnay is drugged..... Flintstone vitamins poisoned.
I can't imagine being so filled with hate that I would disrespect the dead and their families in that matter. A pox on all of them!
Who the eff ARE these idiots?
The media LOVES the story about the loopy right idiots.
They need that to PROVE that they have to "keep fighting".
But who on earth ARE these jokers - and would someone tell them to STAND DOWN.
They are not "religious extremists" but simply extremist nutjobs, whose position has absolutely nothing to do with Christian teaching on homosexuality, which is to love the sinner and hate the sin. We must resist every attempt of the liberal media to lump the Phelpsites with religious conservatives.
Even if you despise acts of war why would you drag the american flag in the dirt and on the ground? That doesn't make sense.
Phelps worked on the Gore campaign in 88.
Are they hustlers, or real nutjobs?
Fred Phelps loony cultists who make the Hale Bopp whackos seem benign by comparison.

Here's their website. Fire and Brimstone stuff from people that are evil.
It's a church!
Sigh,
DK
This "church" consists of a Whack job and his inbred whack job offspring.
Another Gatling gun application?
These "people" claim to be rightwingers. I suspect most of us would disagree.
After Action Report of the Freep in Martinsville Indiana
A small group of protesters organized right outside a mortuary today where the funeral of Staff Sgt. Jeremy Doyle, was being held.
Sgt. Doyle, from Martinsville Indiana, was killed while serving his country in Iraq.
About thirty police stood in a long line right across the street from the 6 or 7 member group who were dragging American Flags on the ground and waving God hates America signs.
Counter protesters in front of the mortuary who numbered about 25 mostly local people held up American flags and a sign that said God Bless our Troops . One counter protester with his wife and children accused the the small group of being a cult.
At one point the spontaneous counter protesters started singing God Bless America. The smaller but louder group that appeared to be highly staged responded by singing God hates America to the same chorus.
Lots of media were there taking photos and interviewing. Everyone I talked to believed that the protesters were not really Christians but a paid for hate-America group and did not speak for any Christians that they were acquainted with. One local woman thanked me for helping to support our troops as she wiped away tears.
Although some locals feared that anger toward the hate group's presence at the funeral might spill into violence, the protests were conducted without incident.
The small Anti-America group left before the large supportive crowd gathered. Hundreds of people lined the town square.
There was one heated discussion with a local man who said President Bush was killing our children. I reminded him that our troops are adults who volunteered their service and the majority want to complete their mission. About five others standing close by agreed and voiced their opinions loudly.
A soldier in uniform was among those who stated that he supports the mission and our President. He made it clear that he made the decision to serve his country himself and wants to go back to Iraq to help his buddy's.
As the funeral procession of Sgt. Doyle rode through the center of his small town, the large crowd of supporters released Red White and Blue balloons and waved their flags high.
It was wonderful to see hundreds of Red Blooded Americans coming out in support of this soldier. Go to the original thread (see my post above) if you want to see Americans who love their country and support our troops.
They have another website, too. Godhatesamerica.com. Google Fred Phelps and you will get plenty of info.
