Guess that "washes out" Al-Sheehan. I'm sorry for this disaster. I don't know which is worse, watching the flood ravaged cities or listening to Al Sheehan.

Can we send some tax dollars down there to help these people?
I mean it is so RARE for a hurricane to hit that area we should all give generously so they can rebuild
AND they should also remember to BUILD UNDER SEA-LEVEL AGAIN because no hurricanes ever hit that area.
I think Katrina will be the storm that gives the words "we'll ride it out" a worse reputation than they already had.

He's off saving the world, ya know. Just how many countries are going to send US aid to get through this? The answer is none, nada, zippo, zero. We'll rebuild, again, without ANY help from ANYWHERE. I just hope THEY don't come crawling to us the next time THEY have a problem.

A guy from the Army Corps of Engineers said that the problem was water that was just so high that it was overflowing the tops of the levees. He didn't think the levees were broken, but they hadn't confirmed this. Facts are your friends.
This is HUGH and SERIES (really-no kidding). Both the Lake and River continue to rise because of water flowing into them from all directions. The people in NO are trapped in a filling soup bowl with little means of escape.
This could be catastrophic unless plans are made immediately to get the folks out of the city by whatever means possible or get them to higher ground.
Both airports are underwater, so I've read so air transportation may be out of the question. Could people get to the docks where ships could pick them up?
To listen to the MSM, New Orleans is utterly wiped out and is probably is worse than Hiroshima. Not that things aren't bad, but the MSM has a way of blowing things way out of proportion.
As an aside, and I am somewhat leery to mention this but say it to show an economics lesson.
Got back from my local supermarket. Hastily made up signs all over the fresh produce section, stating a big fresh produce sale will begin tomorrow.
I'm surmising a ton of New Orleans area supermarkets have canceled their fresh produce contracts and that produce has no place to go so a glut has happened.
Before anyone gets mad at me, fresh produce will do no good in the Katrina hit areas, canned goods are the most needed.

It may be absurd to suggest, but it is time we come together as a nation to do whatever is necessary to save everyone possible, pray for the souls of the lost and rebuild.
No wonder NOLA is in trouble, Cindy and Hillary are surrounded by all the dykes.
FreeRepublic should post a "Bono Empty Tune Meter" to report on money he raises for Katrina relief.
