Cindy Sheehan and her supporters in the mainstream media failed in their efforts to radicalize the American people against the war in Iraq, according to a poll by The Washington Post and ABC News to be released later today at 5 p.m. EDT.
The telephone survey of 1006 adults conducted August 25-28 showed no movement in either direction for opposition or support to the war. Eighty percent said Sheehan's three-week long protest outside President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas while he was on a working vacation there had no effect on their position on the war. Ten percent said her protest made them more likely to support the war in Iraq, while an equal number said her protest would make them less likely to support the war.
Mrs. Sheehan, whose son was killed in Iraq last year, arrived in Crawford on August 6 demanding a meeting with the president. Aided by anti-American groups that have expressed support for the so-called Iraqi resistance, including Code Pink and Veterans for Peace, Mrs. Sheehan was able to dominate the news for the month of August with the help of a sympathetic national media which failed to report the most basic facts about her and her supporters.
Thanks to the research of Freepers, the American people were able to learn about Mrs. Sheehan's extremist politics and her disengenuousness.
Freepers were first to report that Mrs. Sheehan had previously met with the president and that she was telling a wildly different story of that meeting from her initial account told to her local newspaper right after the meeting.
Freepers also discovered photos of that meeting that showed Mrs. Sheehan holding the president's hand and leaning in to receive a kiss on the cheek from him.
Freepers researched and reported Mrs. Sheehan's extremist statements about Israel and her pronouncements that she was refusing to pay her taxes in protest against her son's death.
Freepers found her comments supporting convicted abettor of terrorism, Lynne Stewart and also reported that the groups involved with Mrs. Sheehan in Crawford had explicitly sided with the so-called Iraqi resistance through their endorsement of the World Tribunal on Iraq.
Freeper research also unearthed a video of Mrs. Sheehan calling terrorists who crossed the border in to Iraq to join Al Qaeda "freedom fighters" in an interview with CBS News' Mark Knoller on her first day in Crawford--which CBS and the other media at her press conference failed to report.
That video now serves as exhibit one for how the mainstream media covered up for Mrs. Sheehan from day one in order to prop her up as the latest tool of their campaign to destroy the presidency of George W. Bush.
Thanks to the efforts of Freepers, Mrs. Sheehan and her allies in the media and on the left failed to instigate the prairie fire of rebellion against the war in Iraq they thought would surely follow.
While they will blame Karl Rove and the White House for Mrs. Sheehan's failure, we know it was the patriotic Americans at FreeRepublic.com who fought the good fight in the arena of ideas.
And...
...a good Freeper never misses the chance to ridicule a fellow Freeper who has way to high an opinion of himself.
You ROCK!
And Rick is up there in heaven, resting in the knowledge that good men like you, the best this country has to offer, and I MEAN that, 110%, are standing in his stead here on earth, fighting in memory of him and other patriots who have preceded him, every single day!
Yahoo! And now the Pres has cut short his "vacation". Cindy, go home, already!!
I for one am going to e-mail Fox to tell them that I will not watch as long as they run her ads.
Well my faith in america is restored, maybe the majority are not brainwashed afterall.
Thank you
Could this be the start of the Warchild9 fan club ping list?
Gosh I hope so.
With his level of unbridled pomposity, it could end up the biggest on FR, and most entertaining.
If Cindy keeps it up any longer with more important things to worry about like people's lives, she's gonna look very self-absorbed.
Exactly. It's all the "Jooooos" fault. Sarcasm off.
The survey found that 52 percent of the public says Bush should talk to Sheehan, who has repeatedly asked for a meeting with the president, while 46 percent said he should not. Fifty-three percent support what she is doing while 42 percent oppose her actions, according to the poll.
Thanks for the ping.
Thanks for the ping.
