Headquartered on a sprawling campus near Charleston, South Carolina, Force Protection, Inc. has become the nation's leading center for blast protection technology and counter improvised explosive device (IED) research.
Force Protection manufactures the world's most advanced ballistic- and mine-protected vehicles. These specialty vehicles incorporate state-of-the-art technology with off-the-shelf American commercial automotive components that protect soldiers against attacks from IEDs, land mines, roadside bombs and hostile fire in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo and other hot spots around the world.

Sure, this is a website, but I just thought that this American-buile and -designed vehicle might just save lives.

Something similar was posted a while ago.
They seem like good guys.
Keep it up though, we can't tout our own American-Made guys enough.
Who else can we trust anyway?

It's a buffalo. And yes, it saves lives.

We should have spent a billion dollars to make this happen two years ago.

They will just make bigger IEDs. A few Abrams tanks have been totally destroyed as it is...

There is no such thing as a IED-proof vehicle.

If we were serious about vehicles that can roll over 3 anti tank mines and survive... we would get some Casspir APV vehicles. Canada was looking at these too.
"The vehicle design not only protects the crew against triple tank mines under any wheel, or double under the hull, but also facilitates rapid field repair after a mine detonation.
Ballistic protection up to 5.56 x 45mm as well as 7.62 x 51mm NATO ball ammunition is provided with optional protection against 7.62 x 51mm AP. The glass is bullet resistant to the same degree as the hull. "
They have them with heavier armor too. They cost about as much as a civilian H1 Hummer $120k, and can be fixed in the field. The parts are pretty much generic drive line parts so cheap and easy to fix.
It is called a Casspir. SA made many different vehicles to handle in Rhodesia what we are going through in Iraq. They worked. Why don't we supply these to our troops?
