La. Huuricane Expert or Environmental Activist?
Project - X in Louisana ^ | Unknown

If you watched FOX Sunday or today you heard dire predictions of environmental disaster due to TOXIC CHEMICALS. Some Prof. at LSU named Ivor van Heerden was quoted with other predictions related to sewage, gasoline spills, etc.

So I wondered, how much of an expert is this guy? A quick Google reveals he is much more of an environmental activist than hurricane expert.

Email FOX News and tell them to do a better job of who they put on the air.

Look at the link. Excerpt: Project X-Change: Baton Rouge

After spending most of Friday, May 24, in rural Mississippi, the delegation set off for Baton Rouge, Louisiana. On May 25, we met with the Louisiana Environmental Action Network (LEAN) at their offices in Baton Rouge. We were welcomed by Mary Lee Orr, LEAN's Director, Albertha Hasten, Chair of the LEAN Board, Ivor van Heerden, a South African now active with LEAN, and Willie Fontenot, an environmental activist working with the Louisiana State Attorney General's Office. The morning in Baton Rouge was spent at the LEAN office and in the afternoon Willie Fontenot took us on a very informative toxic tour of the area.

I hear nothing but global warming and environmental damage from the media.

The immediate danger is from waterborne disease that will take hold very quickly in the warm tropical-like weather. Broken sewage lines, contaminated drinking water, decomposing bodies (both buried and recently dead) will pose a much greater danger than "toxic chemicals" which will be diluted to much less than their threshold toxicity level.

Good job Mango- and why does the Louisiana State Attorney General's Office employ an "environmental activist". What does he do, investigate cases for lawsuits?

I saw that guy. It was a perfect example of how academics--college teachers--are incapable of leaving their AGENDAS behind when standing-in to offer expert commentary on television. In under two minutes, I learned that the disaster about to befall New Orleans was all a consequence of "starving" the local wetlands. (It's probably ruined the duck hunting too!)
