I'm a born and bred Manhattanite, so don't even try to lecture me about New Yorkers, dear. We had a summer home, when I was growing up, in Glen Cove and I saw on your personal page that you are from Garden City, which I used to know well.
And since you also listed when you graduated from high school and college ( perhaps you might like to play the "DO YOU KNOW" game, in private, because I dated a few guys at Dartmouth, during part of your years there. ) I know that like me, you were NOT an adult during the McCarthy ear. You may have lived through it, as I did, but you believed ALL of the biased nonsense put out about him.
Yes, Ann Coulter is sometimes not only wrong, but terribly wrong about some things. But you have me mistaken with others here, I did NOT get my information about McCarthy from reading her book; I knew many decades before reading that tome, the truth/facts about Tailgunner Joe. I suggested that you read "TREASON", because you only know one side of the topic and that one, full of lies. I also told you to read books written by and about Whittaker Chambers! There are other books I could have told you to read, but I figured that two or three would suit.
And as I told you last night, HUAC was NOT a McCarthy endeavor. You're the one who brought up his supposed going after people in Hollywood...which is FACTUALLY INCORRECT!
Obviously, when it comes to FACTS, yes, in our debate, I am the only one who knows the truth. You proved, with every post you made, that you are uneducated in the matter. And quite a number of others, on this thread, took you to task as well. They too, know the truth/facts.
Please don't attempt to explain, to me, why people are on FR nor how to behave. You just joined; I've been here, lurker and member, from almost the very beginning of this site. We duke it out here and if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. I was civil and polite, in the extreme. If being told that you are wrong and ill informed about a topic is going to get an Air Force Vet ( so is my husband, BTW, and thank you for your service! ) all astir, perhaps you should just stick to threads about war/fighting/the military; topics you know well.
A belated welcome to FR. :-)

True - Mary did not successfully institutionalize herself. I see the same failing fairly often in the early life of the high tech Silicon Valley companies I work for. It's a rare person who can carve out new paths in unknown jungles, and then lay down a 4-lane highway for those to follow.
Usually there is a rough period of transition instead, which may or may not kill the company, as it transitions from the expression of one driven man's personality and talents, into a healthy corporation.
Unfortunately for America, we had a profoundly corrupt President at the helm when this turf war broke out. He used it to his advantage - to deeply politicize the control of intelligence and law enforcement both.
The cynical amongst us might even suspect that it was not an accident that ended Mary's life.

Harris of the Washington Post reports that Berger was "well-liked" by "White House and foreign policy reporters." That was demonstrated when the Berger scandal broke. The Post did not play the story on page one. It went back on page two. The New York Times was worse, putting it at the bottom of page 16.
The word "removing" sounds better than "steal" or "theft." Harris, however, claimed that Berger "left the Archives building with copies of documents that were supposed to remain there..." That's a curious formulation. Did they just stick to his clothes? Were they post-it notes that he sat on? Berger says it was inadvertent or accidental. And Clinton said he didn't have sex with that woman.

However, some drafts of a sensitive after-action report on the Clinton administration's handling of Al Qaeda terror threats during the December 1999 millennium celebration are still missing, officials and lawyers said. Officials said the missing documents also identified America's terror vulnerabilities at airports to seaports.
Berger and his lawyer said Monday night he knowingly removed the handwritten notes by placing them in his jacket, pants and socks, and also inadvertently took copies of actual classified documents in a leather portfolio.
The missing documents involve two or three draft versions of the report as it was being refined by the Clinton administration. The Archives is believed to have copies of some of the missing documents.

"Each document was unique, and their destruction by Mr. Scissors means that we will never know what some did with Clarke's information. All we know is that it must have reflected badly on Berger, Clinton, or both. Otherwise, why would Berger destroy them?"
Exactly - this strikes me as the only explanation that could account for why Sandy Burglar was willing to commit crimes and risk serious jail time. Mere 'carelessness' is no explanation at all. fwiw, I have family members who hold or have held very high security clearances, including one (now retired) who worked under one of the top few military officials in the country (pre-Clinton years). They all find the explanations of Burglar and Clinton of how this all transpired to be so preposterous that they laughed uncontrollably (and then were extremely angry) when the Burglar-Clinton explanations first became public. They tell me that even far less sensitive documents are handled with so much more care (except by Clintonistas, evidently), that even misplacing one WITHIN a secure office (never mind removing it) can be a career-ending move. No, whatever Sandy Burglar was up to, he was desperate to make sure certain documents, probably including hand-written comments by top Clintonistas, never made it to the 9/11 O-mission. Even if such documents are termed 'copies' and there is still an 'original' somewhere in the NA, it looks like Burglar made sure that hand-written notes were deep-sixed.... and the 1998 after-action report on the cruise missile attacks never made it to the 9/11 O-mission in any form.

Great list! Thanks for posting it.

Thank GOD that YOU are the keeper of those files! This is really connecting the dots.

Great scut work...this really nails the Clinton administration and invalidates, completely, what Clarke said about President Bush.

If I'm not mistaken, security regulations require that notes on Top Secret material are to be taken by a security officer, double wrapped, and sent to the person who took the notes. They are not to be stuffed in your jacket, pants, and socks. Since Berger had been dealing with classified documents through much of his career, he must have known this.

That was before the delay of sentencing. But perhaps Sandy will get a light sentence ( DRAT! ), because he's been singing like a canary.

"he's been singing like a canary"
Do we know that for sure? Or is it inferred from the fact that his sentencing was delayed? Just wondering, I hadn't heard that the Burglar had learned to sing.....

If Weldon's information ends up being proven true, this could end up being the biggest government scandal/coverup in the history of this country."NO! That CAN'T happen! NOTHING will EVER be bigger than WATERGATE!" screams the Left as they crank up the intensity of their Universal Denial Field Generators]

I'll by the rope and the pop-corn!
God Bless Weldon, sure hope the Good Lord and some heavy armor is protecting him,
To: HonestConservative
I have a feeling that Weldon has let it be known that if an!ything, even a sprained ankle happens to him in the next few months...they know where to look!!!
And I hope that goes for Lt. Schaeffer and the others that are "coming out"!

Yeah.
I worked in a private industry that was very interested in keeping tight track of its documents, since many were part or background to regulatory submissions and/or very valuable to the owner and the competition.
The rules were tight for the minions, but the big cheeses laughed at them. They thought they were above it all. And of course if there is a problem, their is always the underlings to blame.
I am sure that ego and that Clintonesque concept of careerism ad being well above the law is the keystone of this whole thing. Of course, right after them all being total slime balls.....

The Archives is believed to have copies of some of the missing documents.br> ................... So first paragraph black bold face, indicates, what one would expect. Only copies from NA can be viewed by anyone.
In paragraph in blue. Clearly what we have read elsewhere as how the Clintoon admininstration tried to cover up stuff by holding off the new administration from moving in while they did there best to remove PC, other things that should have been left in place and shared what they contained with the new Whitehouse staffs etc.. CYA syndrome.
In paragraph in green. Again, Berger removing copies of things from NA, but in addition indicating drafts he was working on that may have well ended up in the NA on a permenant basis, ONCE STERILIZED, but did not end up even getting that far, but perhaps thrown into a shredder.
So the case for the fact that the Berger's removal of things from the NA where limited to copies, not original documentation. And where he was responsible for polishing off a document for entry into the NA, it never ended up being done, due to required CYA. Thanks.

I wasn't in on your previous discussion and it sounds like I don't want to be.
But I do want to emphasize one of your points.
How could SENATOR McCarthy have any part of the HOUSE, HOUSE, HOUSE Unamerican activities committee.
Thank you, you just allowed me to vent on one of my very sore push buttons.
