Quote "The Red Cross seems to regard disasters as dandy fundraising events. They won't get one cent from me.
I hear ya & I'm w/ya! "
That is because disasters COST a ton of money. The government doesn't pay the Red Cross to help these people. The AMERICAN PEOPLE give money to the Red Cross in order for people to be helped. These are not fund raising opportunities. This reality. It costs money to take care of tens of thousands of people.
You are clueless. The Red Cross is not a money making operation. The money that comes in goes back out. The Red Cross is made up of thousands of LOCAL chapters across the United States. They service YOUR communities.
You really have no clue as to what you are talking about.
Nobody is trying to make money off of a disaster.
Geesh
Maybe you should do an Internet search for info on the U.S. Congress' reaction to the Red Cross' dishonest fundraising tactics after 9/11. There are plenty of relief organizations which manage to raise money honestly. The Red Cross isn't one of them.
And the RC ad min earns a paltry
$500,000 per year.
There was a whole list of them named
some years ago & how much they get
in salaries.
If I remember correctly, don't you or your wife head up a local RC chapter?
My donations go to the Salvation Army. The Red Cross can have my blood, but not my cash.
Amen.
That was not the way it played out with the 9/11 donations. Love 'em if you want, but my experiencs with the RC dating back to my first blood donation in '62, through my time in the US Navy and then the fiasco in '01 makes me think otherwise. My donations go to the SA only.
