Can I ask you another question? How come I got many calls from various parts of So. CA, but no one else I know did. Not my neighors. I asked around afterwards, believe me, I did.

That question, I can't answer. The only thing I can think of is that their calls were supposed to be diverted to an automated announcement, but that your number was programmed by mistake. Their good fortune and your opportunity to be of service!

What we're seeing now, the part that looks (at least to me) like snow, is water, right?

looters already striking.

That always makes things cheerful in events like these.

LE and other services don't have time for that. They need to be shot, make an example out of them.

People also spread facts.
The Red Cross is bad news, IMNSHO.
It once was helpful, and some small and distant pockets far removed from leadership and highly paid positions are still able to sometimes actually be helpful to people in distress.
I used to work part time for the organization.
I give to the Salvation Army now.Or directly to people I know to be in need.
I am not fond of partially funding medical care for terrorists with my hard earned money.
The Red Cross will never have another drop of my blood, or another penny from my pocket.
One might as well donate a box of ammunition directly to Al Quida, as give the Red Cross anything.

Just think of what would have happened if they were hit head on. NO would be no more.

Just a wobble away from complete disaster, instead of "mere" catastrophe.

We are hearing the same. We have lots of pecan trees and they are self pruning. I am sure that I will be picking up limbs for a while. We could use a new roof on the garage, but do you think that a storm would blow the stupid thing off.

The reason they had to do that was because the British started bitching when they gave it away for free. The British Red Cross was charging their troops so the American Red Cross was force to do it so British Morale would not be hurt.

My father also did not like to have to pay for things from the Red Cross during WWII. At least the doughnut dollies did leave compounds and go to a few LZ's during Vietnam. Of course some of these girls along with other women in Vietnam went home rich. So apparently they charged for everything in addition to the donuts. But on the other hand, they weren't back in the States burning American flags with their draft dodging current boy friends.
