Cindy Sheehan’s lost intentions (sister and father speak of Casey's service to God and country)
Bowling Green News, OH ^ | August 29, 2005 | Danielle Winters dwinter@bgsu.edu

Posted on 08/29/2005 6:05:05 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Army Specialist Casey Sheehan joined the Army in 2000 at the age of 20, then reenlisted four years later, well aware that he would probably be sent to Iraq.

March of 2004 arrived and Casey was, in fact, sent to Iraq as a mechanic with the artillery division attached to the 1st Cavalry Division.

Casey Sheehan died during a rescue mission he volunteered to join.

A convoy had been attacked in Sadr City, and although he had no obligation to take part in the rescue mission, he went anyway.

For his heroism, he was awarded a purple heart and a bronze star.

His father tells stories of how Casey knew he wanted a life in the military, and how he loved the military because it gave him a chance to serve his country, which he did proudly and willingly.

Casey’s sister said, “That’s all he wanted to do is serve God and his country his whole life.”

So what does it say for Casey that his mother has publicly announced that she feels that “this country is not worth dying for”?

Was it a waste that he volunteered to fight for his country and ultimately gave his life for a cause he felt strongly about?

As I write this, 1,873 U.S. troops have been killed in Iraq. The parents of 1,872 of those troops have mourned the deaths of their children privately and have allowed their children to live on in memory with well-deserved dignity, regardless of their feelings on the war.

Cindy Sheehan’s behavior is tarnishing her son’s memory and robbing him of his valor, his bravery and the sacrifice he made.

Maybe she is a grieving mother who began this whole crusade with the intention of achieving justice for her son.

But if she continues, her son will be remembered for his rabid mother and not the gift he gave his country.

As is the case with most mothers, Cindy Sheehan feared for her son before he left for Iraq, so much so that she was willing to help him avoid his impending tour. She offered to run him over with a car.

A mother’s love knows no boundaries.

The Sheehans met with President George W. Bush two months after their son died. After the meeting she said, “I now know he’s sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqis,” and, “I know he’s sorry and feels some pain for our loss. And I know he’s a man of faith.”

The media’s love affair with Cindy Sheehan began with her more recent demands to meet with President Bush. Apparently she began feeling differently about the President’s reaction to the situation and to their meeting.

It also might have had something to do with the involvement of some leftist anti-war radicals named Michael Moore and Sam Husseini.

All of a sudden, Sheehan is asking President Bush, “Why did you murder my son?” and calling him “the biggest terrorist” — putting her in the good company of Islamic fundamentalists like Khalid Khawaja, who calls Osama Bin Laden “a man like an angel.”

From “Camp Casey,” in front of George Bush’s Texas ranch and through messages on Michael Moore’s Web site, she is exploiting her position as a grieving mother to further her cause as a leftist and an anti-war activist.

She is even raving that her son died to benefit Israel and the neo-con agenda.

Now, the leftist anti-war groupies have found a live one, and are jumping on the bandwagon from near and far.

The groupies have created quite a sizeable coalition at Sheehan’s campout in Texas. Some of the headliners include Gold Star Families for Peace, Code Pink, Veterans for Peace, Military Families Speak Out and the Crawford Peace House.

All of these groups are on the steering committee of United for Peace and Justice, a major anti-war organization.

Also with a presence on UPJ’s steering committee is the Communist Party USA. Makes for interesting bedfellows, doesn’t it?

UPJ was the brainchild behind the march on the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York.

When 253 of its protesters were polled by the New York Sun as to whether they felt that “Iraqi attacks on Americans occupying Iraq are legitimate resistance” 67 percent answered yes.

This means Sheehan’s coalition thinks the kind of attack that killed her son is perfectly okay.

Convinced yet that this is not about grieving her son’s death?

Cindy Sheehan has become the new poster child/puppet of the anti-war, anti-American, extreme left lobby in this country. It really is a shame that her son’s death is being used as an opportunity to propagate the far left’s political platform.

And yes, when you want your country to fail, such as these people do, you are anti-American.

It’s a good thing for Cindy Sheehan that she has the love and affection of the leftist radicals and the American media.

Her husband has filed for divorce, and it is almost a sure bet her son is looking down on her as a disappointed man.

Sam Husseini, based in the IPA media office at the National Press Building in Washington, D.C., is the communications director. His articles on politics, foreign affairs, public policy, media, and pop culture have been published in The Washington Post, Newsday, The Chicago Tribune, The Nation, The Humanist, TheVillage Voice, FAIR's magazine Extra! and numerous other outlets. Prior to joining IPA, Husseini was media director for the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee.

Background on the Institute for Public Accuracy:

The Institute for Public Accuracy was founded in mid-1997 by its current executive director, Norman Solomon, with the support of a two-year $100,000-per-year Public Interest Pioneer grant from the Stern Family Fund. IPA opened its national office in San Francisco in October 1997. Several months later, IPA established its media office in the National Press Building in Washington, D.C. It is a 501(c)(3) organization.

IPA increases the reach and capacity of progressive and grassroots organizations (at no cost to them) to affect public policy by getting them and their ideas into the mainstream media. IPA gains media access for those whose voices are commonly excluded or drowned out by government or corporate-backed institutions. As a national consortium of independent public-policy researchers, analysts and activists, IPA widens media exposure for progressive perspectives on many issues including the environment, human rights, foreign policy, and economic justice.

IPA has developed a detailed set of constantly updated databases of producers, commentators, and journalists at media institutions across the country. Generally, IPA news releases are most effective when they address breaking news stories. We've reached wide audiences by using major news developments as pegs for quickly providing accurate information and alternative analysis. Overall, producers and journalists have been very receptive when we contact them -- quickly -- with information and suggestions for appropriate people to interview on subjects that are prominent in the news.

While regularly making it possible for numerous policy analysts, scholars and other independent researchers to be heard in mass media, IPA boosts many progressive grassroots groups with scant resources for media outreach. During the past eight years, IPA news releases have promoted analysts from more than 900 different organizations doing work on a wide variety of public-policy issues.

This is incredible! It was written by someone from BGSU, my alma mater. A student perhaps?
I'm impressed!

I can't even began to tell you how hard it is for me to except what this "Mother" is doing to HER sons memories.....there are no words to fully explain how hard this is for me to understand. She has done all she can to cast SHAME on his choice to defend his country and more than that his beliefs in OUR FREEDOMS (one of which is speech)and she is enjoying at this time/ Were it not for her son and the many soliders before and after him she couldn't even be saying these things/ Maybe just me but the thing I hear her saying the loudest is "My son was a dummy and didn't know what he was doing and he died for nothing!!" I don't have a son there but I do have a nephew and I pray each day that he comes home safe, BUT I also give THANKS that we have young people like him and the others that are helping to keep us from times like 9/11 or the simple things like freedom of speech!!!! So Cindy has the right to say what ever she wants...........BUT WHAT IS SHE SAYING ABOUT HER SON????? let me tell you as a Granny that hurts, as an American it makes me mad, as a Mom it makes me feel sorry for her son,the stand he made, amd the lack of respect he received from HIS OWN MOM!!!!!

You will note that these Commie Leftists in Crawford have been placing white crosses in the ground. Just when did "crosses" mean anything to these people. Here's an idea ~ Let's all go to the homes of Kerry, Kennedy, Boxer,Pelosi and the rest of those losers, and put little white crosses all over their front lawns....and decorate them with "rattles" and "pacifiers". HYPOCRITICAL BASTARDS!!

I get the feeling that Cindy and Casey were polar opposites.

She is also doing this to spite Casey for some reason because she knows how he must feel looking down from the heavens. It is very evil what she is doing and leftist pinheads hold her up as a hero. I wonder if Cindy has thought about what life will be a year from now when most of her family has disowned her. I won't be surprised if she does herself in some day.

That's the ticket to winning over the American people... support terrorists who murdered Casey Sheehan and who are seeking to destroy Iraq's democratic experiment and defeat us there. How? By bringing home the troops of course. Jihad Cindy and her ilk on the anti-American moonbat Left are moral imbeciles... not to mention fringe groupies who think their country sucks. You can be sure that's not what Casey Sheehan died for and its revolting to see these people dance on his grave and use him as a prop for a cause he would never have lent his name to. We all know military service is an honorable act of valor. The last thing we need is to have those with an ulterior agenda tarnish those in uniform who gave under God, their last full measure of devotion to our country.

***..... To feel anointed. In other words: To be progressive is itself the most satisfying narcissism.

That is why it is of little concern to them that their socialist schemes have run aground, burying millions of human beings in their wake. That is why they don't care that their panaceas have caused more human suffering than all the injustices they have ever challenged. That is why they never learn from their "mistakes." That is why the continuance of Them is more important than any truth.

If you were active in the so-called "peace" movement or in the radical wing of the civil rights causes, why would you tell the truth? Why would you tell people that no, you weren't really a "peace activist," except in the sense that you were against America's war. Why would you draw attention to the fact that while you called yourselves "peace activists," you didn't oppose the Communists' war, and were gratified when America's enemies won?

What you were really against was not war at all, but American "imperialism" and American capitalism. What you truly hated was America's democracy, which you knew to be a "sham" because it was controlled by money in the end. That's why you wanted to "Bring the Troops Home," as your slogan said. Because if America's troops came home, America would lose and the Communists would win. And the progressive future would be one step closer.

But you never had the honesty-then or now-to admit that. You told the lie then to maintain your influence and increase your power to do good (as only the Chosen can). And you keep on telling the lie for the same reason.

Why would you admit that, despite your tactical support for civil rights, you weren't really committed to civil rights as Americans understand rights? What you really wanted was to overthrow the very Constitution that guaranteed those rights, based as it is on private property and the individual-both of which you despise.

It is because America is a democracy and the people endorse it, that the left's anti-American, but "progressive" agendas can only be achieved by deceiving the people. This is the cross the left has to bear: The better world is only achievable by lying to the very people they propose to redeem. ......Source

Exactly. The cross means nothing to them really. People like that use scripture, out of context of course, for their own means. I noticed that a lot when I was the peace studies secretary. (Now THAT was interesting...) Mxxx
