Wow, I can't imagine walking through a hurricane to get to the Superdome!

I heard somewhere that the levee behind East Jefferson hospital has broken and that the hospital itself is flooding. Have you heard this anywhere yourself?

I just climbed onto the thread and I'm sorry I missed whatever was going on.
You couldn't have been all that.
Well, maybe you could?
To: Termite_Commander
uh, the City is flooding....
To: LibSnubber
Prayers for your family. I'm sorry about the bad news.
To: Lazamataz
In consideration of others in harms way I try to be careful with this. I'm an old ER nurse and I guess have a mash type sense of humor. Some things I see as funny, others don't. I was on the South Texas storm thread last month and probably posted some off the norm stuff myself.. If things had been worse I would probably have been a lot more serious, I guess though. You are invited to our next one, down here. Just keep it clean though or my husband will pull my plug:')

Prayers go out to all those people in danger. I'm afraid the worst may be yet to come.
To: blam
Thanks for the update. If y'all need to, load up the dogs and head to Dothan - we have plenty of room and it looks like we're going to miss this one.

Re: "It has been at least 20 years since I've seen it and it would be a shame to lose it. In fact, I remember in the fifth grade at Cary Woods Elementary School here in Auburn, I contributed money to help with the USS Alabama acquisition and restoration. Or something like that."
Good for you! I am a big fan of the USS Texas and visited her many times when I lived in Houston years ago. To make a long story very brief, in a very troubled time in my life, that visit to the 'Bama got me over a rough spot. I'll always have a soft spot for the USS Alabama...
Hope she has weathered the storm.

This is a check in for blam. I am his son. I am writing on behalf of blam who asked me to report to you all. We have no power, trees down, high wind gusts, lotsa rain, but safe. Using laptop with limited power so will not be on again until later - maybe tomorrow. Cheers.
Prayers and hugs!!!!

Yah, it hasn't gotten in higher, but the walls they built were supposed to protect them...ha! They are just poor people, so why not scrimp on materials? That happens there too much.

I think they said yesterday was that the backside of the storm was more dangerous because the Lake would have the most surge at that time and then the backward winds would cause the most spillage, I pray that I am wrong.

We who were here late last night were exchanging recipes to ease some of the tension Just had three slices of toasted cinnamon-sugar tension reduction myself. Don't when I last thought of making some. If I hadn't been on last night, I'm sure I never would have.
