Hats off to the FReepers who posted their prayers on these live threads before landfall and after, that God would somehow nudge the hurricane to the east enough to spare NO. Looks like, so far at least, their prayers have been answered.
Good for NO, but bad for Biloxi-Gulport though

St. Bernard Parish...People on their second floors have 4 feet of water. Water rising 1 foot per hour.

I heard Jim Cantore in a live report a little while ago. He had been very busy helping to move the residents of the retirement home to a higher floor. He says everyone is safe.

Ditto and he's far better and more soothing than Bridget Quinn who loves the sound of her own voice. Frankly, I already miss him, especially when seeing Bill (CNN) Hemmer as his replacement.

They were broadcasting out of Jackson, MS, but evidently that is down now too.
