Not being a WX expert, but I wonder if what you're seeing is area that is difficult for the land-based radars to see. In any event, the 1:00AM NOAA weather statement still shows sustained winds at 160 and the pressure at 908.

They just said on Channel 2 what you are saying -- the radar cannot see that far out to pick up the backside.

At 42040 last report with 38 ft waves
At 42007 19 fts waves
All stations report pressure falling rapidly
