I've got what I've got.... let's just say that I don't want this thing to make any left turns.

Hand dipped chocolate covered pretzels, though a wee bit more fussy to make, aren't hard.

In a double boiler ( or a small put put over a larger pot that has slowly boiling water in it, melt 16 ounces of cooking/baking chocolate and a 1/2 a stick of unsalted butter, turn flame down to low, use a large toothpick or a BBQ skewer through a three ring pretzel and dip into chocolate, raise and let drip a bit. Place coated pretzel on wax paper covered cookie sheet. When the sheet is full, place in the ice-box for about 1/2 an hour. Then peel the pretzels off the paper and store in a container.

I would bet they did. What were they going to do? Just think about the bombs falling on their heads.

The swarm? If you remember it (being reg'd from Nov 99) I should too. I must've burned out those brain cells. ;)

I don't see the slightest reason to consider this level of concern a matter of network hype. The greatest concern seems to be coming from the experts who know just what a Cat. 5 hitting a below-sea-level city like New Orleans really means. No one can make perfect predictions in meteorology, but at this point there seems to be no room for doubt that Katrina is going to make landfall within just a few miles of N.O. and that much of coastal LA, MS, and into AL will suffer a tremendous, devastating blow. There's speculation involved in saying just how bad, how many deaths, etc. but no doubts that it will be a huge, terrible hit.

And my thanks to you for helping document and witness this event.

Right now??
I'd pay $10 a gallon for gas and never complain if this would just stop, freeze, back-up and die a quick death.

'High rises to sway dangerously' according to the NWS. And all windows will likely go. Man, that would be a very BAD place to be. I keep thinking how safe could the Superdome possibly be? I guess people could get up far enough to be above the water, but it would be incredibly scary.

Rule #1 of proper behavior during disasters gleaned from disaster movies: Never go to the ballroom!

That is just awful, funny, but awful! ;-)

LOL

I have the pool but don't think I want to swim with the dolphins because I have seen their tank at the local Aquarium. Yuk.

And this is the Aqurium that was Keiko's last home State of the Art.

FOXNews just interviewed the Salvation Army and the guy said they have many mobile kitchens ready to roll to New Orleans. They will start feeding people as quickly as they can get into the area. (I think he said 50 kitchens)

He said Salvation Army units from all the southern states will be on the way to help with Katrina. God bless the Salvation Army.

Tulane Hospital moved the Emergency Department up to the 3rd floor of the hospital. Hospital is at full capacity with 163 patients. In the past hour or so--three new ED patients brought in from the SuperDome.

On ther upside, this will eliminate a good deal of the nutria population...

That said, I hope the city and it's residents come out of this safely.
