Extremely dangerous Hurricane Katrina is bearing down on the North Central Gulf of Mexico and New Orleans metro area. Thousands of people did not evacuate New Orleans. Outer bands of Katrina are reaching the Louisiana coast.
Due to the size and intensity of this storm, all interests in the North Gulf of Mexico should be in their safe locations.

looks to be slowly weakening...maybe going through an ERC....but as we have seen earlier....this storm does NOT weaken much at all during those cycles.
It still will be at the least a cat 4 a landfall.
I would assume most people in New Orleans are aware they are below sea level and that a hurricane could mean the entire city would flood. They are acting very foolish, no one should ever die in a hurricane as you have 24-72 hours of advance notice.
Our Local Weatherman KATU Bob Marcianno is now a big time guy with CNN and is in N.O. covering Katrina
I am calling my kids in Foley, Alabama and telling them to repent quick.
:-) Thanks.
At 160 mph, the wind loading is about 65pounds per square foot.
Don't have pressure or any other data yet.
I'm working on a new thread...it'll be a little bit longer.
certainly with it slowing down
That's the last straw. You people have lost me. I am not here for a sermon. You just keep judging because I am sure you are perfect.
I don't think all 20 thousand will be in alcohol withdrawal. And all 20 thousand won't need medication.
I'm gonna have to check out of these threads because the misinformation I'm finding here nearly outweighs the factual stuff.
Ugh.
Most of 'em.
There's cousins out in Plaquemines Parish who insisted in staying in the house; there are other cousins in an apartment west of New Orleans up on the 7th floor. I'm truly worried about the ones in the apartment more than the ones in the country (if George and Clinton can survive the storm itself, they'll be fine; Marjory and her sisters in the apartment, I'm not as sure about)...
The point is that he was asked to not make the statements yet continued - that was the reason for the banning - not his religious beliefs.
point ..
I agree that it's especially important to keep things cool during times of crisis.
I just hope the we can keep the free flow of ideas as well as the flow of information.
Our Country will be put to the test over the next few days.
I took a couple hours away too...my son called me from Ft. Campbell...we've had a great chat..he's my treasure.
I'm also numb...this is all so impossible to grasp.
Maybe he's getting out of the French Quarter. [I hope]
I heard that the dome does have its own generator.
You guys, I want to know this...Am I hearing right? The city will be ok right? I mean, they are talking as if it will be---gone.
Tell me I'm hearing wrong. Tell me they're exagerating.
Cvengr, Thank you for your research and posting of the links. Appreciate your time!
Pass those numbers to me. I'll also take the winner of the 6th race at Belmont too:)
