Jesse Jackson calls Venezuela 'An Example for the World'
El Universal (Venezuela) ^ | Aug. 28, 2005 | Staff

TRANSLATION FROM SPANISH:

CARACAS.-The U.S. reverend and activist affirmed that the political model of Venezuela constitutes an example for all the nations of the world, shortly after arriving last night to the nation, he told a local radio station.

In his first words on arriving to Venezuelan soil, Jackson cited the just distribution of natural resources and the revindication of minority rights as some of the positive points of the 'revolutionary' process that impels the government of President Hugo Chavez, he told Union Radio.

The defender of civil rights of Afro-Americans indicated that in his three-day visit to the country he hopes to meet ethnic groups who so resemble his mandate to discuss ideas on the way to achieve equality and eradicate poverty and racism.

"We talk much about the right to vote democratically, but we also should have the right to a good life and health and the just distribution of resources. It's a new day and it's the hour to raise up those who have fewer resources, he said.

With respect to the relations between the U.S. and Venezuela, Jackson said that "they are not good but should be better, given that we live in the same hemisphere and I'm here to promote improvement."

Once again, he reiterated his rejection of the declarations of televangelist Pat Robertson, who invoked a call to assassinate President Chavez. "That is immoral and unacceptable in the world of today," he asserted.

The U.S. pastor addressed a special session of the National Assembly that was there to celebrate Sunday today in honor of Martin Luther King and he will participate in an audiovisual program Sunday on (Chavez's weekly TV show) "Aló presidente". He will return to the U.S. around Tuesday.

As Jackson spoke these words, blood was running in the streets of Caracas. Chavez was doing what dictators do.

American Thinker Photos of blood in the streets while Jackson sucked up to Chavez and blamed America first

Jackson's words are obscene.

I think the guy is evil and needs to be held accountable.

Not to mention, Chavez.

Gee...I could've swore I read a post on FR from a couple days ago were Chavez just revoked what little free-speech rights they had, making it illegal to criticize the government. This country has been turning into a Cuban-styled government for years. I'm amazed at how these liberals who claim to respect human-rights gravitate to some of the worst violators on the planet.

There he goes again. (RR) This is the same thing he says about Cuba, North Korea and the old Soviet Union. "Reverend" Jesse is a strange duck.

When Jesse Jackson talks about minority rights being upheld, he is probably referring to the rights of a minority group to rule over and oppress a majority.

The poor moron has to say something that will get him some attention. Lacking both character and intelligence, this is what he came up with. Or maybe Jimmy Carter told him what to say. In any case, they're both irrelevant.

And, in my opinion, killing off Chavez would save a lot of lives and a lot of trouble.

The attack on the protestors (and all they wanted were fair elections) is pretty much proof that there is no free speech in Venezuela.

I guess since Jesse was out of the country he didn't get the memo telling him he's irrelevant.

BTW, any bets on when the Rev-rund Jack-sonn shows up at Crawford? Or will he back off since Rev-rund Al has already staked out the territory and the cameras?

We talk much about the right to vote democratically, but we also should have the right to a good life and health and the just distribution of resources.

We already have it, it's called Free Will: stay in school and study hard, don't abuse substances or get pregnant, work hard, and most people will have a good life and health.

People who don't do these things don't have a "right" to siphon the good life and health of those who do.

For anyone who knows Jesse, his Venezuelan appearance is no doubt for cash in one form or another, probably through its oil industry or through Citgo, which is now owned by Venezuela.
