Anti-War protest at Soldier's funeral - TOMORROW
Westboro Baptist Church & anonymous chatroom poster | 8/27/05 | LibertyRocks

Posted on 08/27/2005 8:34:56 PM PDT by LibertyRocks

HEADS UP: There is an anti-war protest planned by the Westboro Baptist Church in Martinsville, IN tomorrow during a Soldier's funeral.

I first heard about it was from a chatter earlier today on MSN chat who was requesting help with bail tomorrow. I subsequently visited the church's website and found confirmation of their plans.

The chatter stated that the entire town would be turning out for the funeral and that people are "ready and waiting" for these protestors. He also stated that he wasn't sure the local PD would protect these protestors. I am hoping cooler heads prevail...

Here is the info on the planned protest copied from the Westboro Baptist Site:

August 28, 2005 1:30 pm – 2:00 pm Martinsville, IN Neal & Summers Mortuary, 110 E. Poston Rd., for funeral of Army Staff Sgt. Jeremy W. Doyle

Ok. I was across the street from the moonbats on the southeast corner next to the lady with the huge flag. I must have seen you. Give me a hint. Were you the guy holding the sign that called them a cult?

Let me know if you decide to Freep this week. I have some suggestions that I can freepmail you with.

I detected that there were certain things that we did that they did not like. :)~

Also, I was only able to ping about 100 of your close to 500 Michigan Freepers (it took me a half an hour to type that many!) so if you can post the information on the Michigan board that would help.

Thanks.

Thanks for this report! Someone needs to remind these doofuses that our troops are NOT "children!" Notice how everyone on the other side refers to them as "children?" These troops, all volunteers I might add, are one and all MEN AND WOMEN, who had a lot more character and maturity than these idiots who run around whining about the President "killing our children."

And oh, one more thing--that group DOES seem to be a cult. Most people who look into what they're about say they're a cult.

They are not only dragging flags in front of the mortuary, they drag God through the mud with those horrid signs.

No, you must have missed me, I was talking to several of the people there - must have been wandering around when you took the picture. The owner of the funeral home, Neil Sumner, is on the township board and we own a piece of property that surrounds Nutter cemetery - Its the one where anyone in the city dies without money for a funeral gets a free paupers grave at. He is in charge of it and coordinates the burials with us so as to not block our driveway without warning. He was pretty sick about the demonstrators being there.

City stands tall as war casualty is laid to rest Martinsville residents line streets in support

By Rebecca Neal

neal@indystar.com

"MARTINSVILLE, Ind. -- Life came to a stop in this small community Sunday afternoon as thousands turned out to honor a soldier who died in Iraq."

"A former Indianapolis resident, Staff Sgt. Jeremy Doyle, 24, never called Martinsville home. But people lined the streets of the city where his family now lives as his funeral procession wound through downtown on a sultry afternoon."

"New South Park Cemetery is across the street from the funeral home where hundreds crowded inside, but folks here seemed to agree Doyle deserved a procession past the Martinsville War Memorial."

"For 31/2 miles, families stood outside their homes. Some people brought lawn chairs to the curb. One young boy held aloft a sign that read, "Jeremy, you're my hero."

*snip*

"While the city turned out in support of the Doyles, six protesters associated with the Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas demonstrated outside the funeral home. Members of the group, which has a history of picketing funerals of military personnel killed by roadside explosives, held signs such as "God blew up the troops" and "Thank God for dead soldiers.""

*snip*

Aw, now I'm tearing up and seeing red blooded Americans show up to defend our soldiers, not only in life but in death. Thank you SO MUCH for being in front of this and reporting afterwards!
