Watched a Marine cry today.. feel good cry
budvol

Posted on 08/27/2005 5:46:53 PM PDT by budvol

I was at work today at the dealership... A Marine and his wife walked on the lot... He had his desert uniform on and I spoke with him and he had just been picked up the Knoxville airport and his car was acting up and was back in the shop.

He said he was back from his 2nd tour over there and had been there 1 solid year and was back for a month and going back. I mean he still had Iraq desert sand on his boots. He was big about 6’4 250… maybe 30 years old.

We talked for a good bit… I will not go into that part of it… but he had seen it all. Anyway after talking he and his wife started walking around the lot holding hands and hugging so I left them alone while they waited for their car.

I called my 9 year old son as I do every day… I said… guess who I have been talking with. And when I told him the first words out of his mouth was let me talk to him.

I ask why and he wouldn’t really tell me he just said PUT HIM ON THE PHONE.

So I went and got the HERO and told him my 9 year old son was on the phone and wanted to speak with him. He said sure… I had no idea what my son wanted to say to him.

He got on the phone and in about 2 mins he was crying a bit.. they spoke for about 10 mins or so. I ask what my son said

He said my son said …. I want to thank you for defending this country… and that all his friends at school looked up to sport players or rock stars etc.. but that he looked up to him and if he wasn’t on the phone he would give him a big o hug!

The Marine said to me with all that is going on with stuff like that Cindy bi*ch etc.. that phone talk with a little 9 year old boy made him feel GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He ask me if my son lived close by and that he wanted to met him Monday and get that HUG! Of course …. I said sure.

I thank his wife,too.
Yes, I second that. It's too easy, when a man does something fine, to thank only the man himself - and forget to thank his support system. And that's just not right.

Hey Stone - My husband is a Police Ffficer and many of the guys he trains have been in the service. They make great Police Officers because they know how to work hard and are very dedicated. Have a great visit with that marine Hero! Thank him and your dad for being such great role models-

That is SO GREAT! I live in the Midwest and I have really noticed a different attitude when people in uniform are around- I was traveling recently and i noticed that whenever a soldier in uniform was around people were almost a little awestruck- kind of like "wow there goes someone actually putting his life on the line for us." It's sobering, especially when I realize how young some of these men and women are. (However, I would never say they were CHILDREN.)

[Squid salute!]

Ready.....tuu!

These women better get busy. We need five million more in the oven like that squared-away strapper, yesterday. Look down the card a little bit....we got the Chinese match coming up. That one's gonna be the Punic Wars.

I hope this soldier realizes how much support he really has here in the homeland.

He just needs to go over here, and print out a few of the pictures, and some of the posts. Then show them to the Marine. The Marine will then KNOW.

What a beautiful, beautiful thing to have witnessed. You tell your son that an Alaskan lady and a military mom, now considers him one of my heroes. He gave one of our military heroes, this fine Marine, one of the best gifts he could have received while home on "leave". Your son's words will stay with that Marine forever and the memory will brighten his days when he goes back to Iraq.

God bless this Marine, his wife and his family. And God bless your son, you and your family. I will share this story with our own son who is an Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran. chena

Hi Stone Payne! We are so proud of you! Thank you for being such a good person, a good citizen, and for saying what you did to that Marine. I bet he's going to remember you forever, and I'm sure you will always remember him too!

Now, try not to be too hard on your dad when you kick his butt at "Football" on your PS2. ;)

You have raised a fine son, even if he still has a little more growning to do.

Thank you and your son.

Wonder why that story wasn't reported by the MSM? OH never mind it wasn't defeatist - never mind.
