Just talked to Basil on site in Crawford, Texas. Currently there are about 100 folks there helping to set up. They have not received word about the caravan arrival in Waco yet. JimRob is riding with the caravan. She thinks it might get to Crawford around 1:00 p.m.
Basil says the stage is set up, the sound system is excellent and they have hung the most beautiful banners overnighted by W04Man on the stage. A big thanks for the banners, they are much appreciated!
Someone arrived early and hung yellow ribbons everywhere.
They have an American flag that is about 50 feet by 40 feet. Children of military personnel serving in the Middle East have written notes to their parents on the stripes of this flag. A very touching thing to behold.
The HOT Chapter booth is being unloaded right now. The will sell buttons made by Angelwood to help off set costs.
Someone rented the Community Center for our use so there is access to AC. However, they also have 10 tents set up. And there is a Moonwalk for the kiddos.
To top everything else there is BBQ on the grill! Basil is the official taster and says it is great!
That is all the news I have at the moment. It is hard to get a cell phone connection to Crawford but when I hear more I will try to update everyone.
You're absolutely right about most of the newspeople. They're gathering their footage to file their stories later in the day for the newscasts, especially if they're from local stations.
But I think FNC could be doing a better job with their resources for live feeds.
Does anyone in the media care?
This should have been televised!
Thinking the same thing here.
I don't see anything wrong with sending a cordial note, however I don't think this kind of stuff is going to sway them;
FOX News is betraying the *decent* people of the US.
FOX News is betraying the US.
FOX News is betraying the TRUTH.
FOX News is betraying Free Speech.
FOX News is betraying the Idae of a Free Press.

'You Don't Speak For Me, Cindy' Campaign
Deborah Mathews reporting for The Iconoclast2:20 p.m.
Deena Burnett, wife Tom Burnett, Jr. who was on the plane that crashed into a field during 9/11, just spoke, saying, "We have a responsiblity to our troops. Our nation stands divided. This war is not about us. We fight for those who can't fight for themselves like my husband did.
"Our soldiers are doing what it takes to keep another Sept. 11 from happening anywhere in our world.
"Thankfully, our leaders didn't sway with public opinion and not fight. I stand in support of our troops," she continued. "Our troops are promoting a better quality of life for the people in Iraq. I commend them for that and I thank them for their service to America and the world."
The mother of Army CWO Eric Kesterson, said, "My husband and I are not here speaking out. We are speaking up."
A man is now being carried away via ambulance. He was conscious, but his condition is at this time unknown.
People are still coming in by droves. There are probably 3,000-4,000 people here now and still coming.

Tie A Yellow Ribbon 'Round the Ole Oak Tree - March 17, 1973 - #1(4 wks.) - 17 wks. on chart

Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Ole Oak Tree
I'm comin' home, I've done my time
Now I've got to know what is and isn't mine
If you received my letter telling you I'd soon be free
Then you'll know just what to do
If you still want me
If you still want me
CHORUS
Whoa, tie a yellow ribbon 'round the ole oak tree
It's been three long years
Do ya still want me? (still want me)
If I don't see a ribbon 'round the ole oak tree
I'll stay on the bus
Forget about us
Put the blame on me
If I don't see a yellow ribbon 'round the ole oak tree
Bus driver, please look for me
'cause I couldn't bear to see what I might see
I'm really still in prison
And my love, she holds the key
A simple yellow ribbon's what I need to set me free
I wrote and told her please
(CHORUS)
Now the whole damned bus is cheerin'
And I can't believe I see
A hundred yellow ribbons 'round the ole oak tree
I'm comin' home, mmm, mmm
(Tie a ribbon 'round the ole oak tree)
(Tie a ribbon 'round the ole oak tree)
(Tie a ribbon 'round the ole oak tree)
(Tie a ribbon 'round the ole oak tree)
(Tie a ribbon 'round the ole oak tree)

I moved recently and my TV is still in storage. Are none of the networks covering the 3,000 person counterprotest? That seems to be the case given that there are no screen shots on this thread. I heard about the 3,000 on FOX radio, got excited, then logged onto FR expecting to see screen shots.
I don't care how biased the media are, there's no way they can ignore a counter-protest that's twice as big as the original protest. I have to conclude, and hope, that the lack of coverage is due our people not having officially gathered themselves together and presented themselves to the media full-strength.
Could it be that they're holding their fire until tomorrow -- that they're waiting for Monday to march or whatever -- so that they can make their presence felt at the beginning of the week's news cycle?
AAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH
"Maybe someone like Sean Hannity can contact the newsroom at Fox!--"
That's what I was thinking - Sean, Gibby, or Brit (afterall, he is DC managing editor)
I'm not buying it. FNC can do a video phone hookup on the fly from Baghdad or Kabul but can't fit in a live report from Crawford between continous coverage of a hurrican that is more than 24 hours away? They haven't had any trouble giving Sheehan and her ilk air time to protest, have they?
interesting picture of Mark Voss writting down those names
Well, A&E is doing 24 hours of '24' this coming Sunday :-)
Maybe the Beltway Boys or someone else will report on it tonight? I dont know the scheduling but is Brit Hume on tonight? I dont watch Cable News too often but i often think of his show as often reporting News stories that the other shows dont carry.
Wrote all contacts, phoned, let Fox have it for failing to cover our combined counter-protest(s). In every case, I pointed out that our men and women in Iraq are either watching or will hear about the events in Crawford. Was snide and recommended that they consider that, along with the FACT that their coverage of Cindy has been nonstop and completely one-sided for weeks. Asked if their harangue about being "fair and balanced" had been intended as a joke, becaaaaause, based upon today's inaction that was the only thing I could surmise. Threw in that both CNN cable outlets had JUST run coverage of Crawford, simply because I knew they'd dislike it.
I worked with the press for years. I've spent the week sending polite requests for coverage of today's event. We're running out of time. They need to hear us and get with it. And they need to do it now.
I wish they could all march down to the Sheehan camp, completely surround the 200 or so there, and surround them several people deep...and then start singing God Bless America, the Battle Hymm of the Republic and the National Anthem.
