Just talked to Basil on site in Crawford, Texas. Currently there are about 100 folks there helping to set up. They have not received word about the caravan arrival in Waco yet. JimRob is riding with the caravan. She thinks it might get to Crawford around 1:00 p.m.
Basil says the stage is set up, the sound system is excellent and they have hung the most beautiful banners overnighted by W04Man on the stage. A big thanks for the banners, they are much appreciated!
Someone arrived early and hung yellow ribbons everywhere.
They have an American flag that is about 50 feet by 40 feet. Children of military personnel serving in the Middle East have written notes to their parents on the stripes of this flag. A very touching thing to behold.
The HOT Chapter booth is being unloaded right now. The will sell buttons made by Angelwood to help off set costs.
Someone rented the Community Center for our use so there is access to AC. However, they also have 10 tents set up. And there is a Moonwalk for the kiddos.
To top everything else there is BBQ on the grill! Basil is the official taster and says it is great!
That is all the news I have at the moment. It is hard to get a cell phone connection to Crawford but when I hear more I will try to update everyone.
My Mom had a poster with my son's name on it. (he's in Japan) She walked up to a CNN reported and stuck the sign in his face and told him "This is my grandson. You show him this sign and that we support him." He told her he would and took a picture. Sad, because she believes what she hears and sees on the news and is expecting to see her sign. Maybe, but I doubt it.
Thanks for educating me, Rebel....I didnt know. I apologize for being the idiot.....
We are so honored that you stopped by today. YOU are what this is all ABOUT. So proud of you, more than words can say...!!!
We're gearing up on the homefront, buddy; please let the devil dogs over there know all about the rally and folks back home that love you guys SO MUCH!
God bless and keep you.

I'm interested in knowing how you came to your figures about numbers in each camp. I was in Crawford yesterday. From what I saw throughout the day, the counterprotestors were located in four different spots throughout the day. A number were in downtown Crawford near the Yellow Rose and Fort Qualls. Then a large group was located at the Community Center near the football stadium.
I drove out to Camp Casey and before getting there, I saw a large group of pro-troop people in a camp. As I neared Camp Casey, I could see it on the left and then Camp Casey II on the right (where the pro-troop people were) Camp Casey II looked about as big as Camp Casey I--though it may have just been my perspective. I didn't go all the way through--I just viewed it from the rise on the road.
If you got your figures from the media, I'd like to know if they counted all the pro-troop groups at the various parts of town.
Thanks for the pics and ping Eaker.
I saw those men on their horses on FoxNews today!
God Bless Our Troops.
CD, I am finding more and more FReepers I missed hooking up with.
I wish I could have met you.
What a day, huh?
THANK YOU! so much for serving our country..God bless you and all your fellow Marines.!
I call her Media because every time I see her she's chasing cameras.
Thanks for your photos and captions. I think I would have laughed in all the same places you did! HAHA.
It was so wonderful seeing all the folks we passed (both on the street and in other cars) giving us all THUMBS UP, shouting Semper Fi (hubby was flying a big Marine off the back of the truck) and waving to us as we passed all along the entire route to Crawford!
Do tents have serial numbers so that you are sure it is the same tent??
Don't hurry back.
Great thread...
Thanks to everybody for posting your pics!
Haha, you had to throw in that last one! Great photo album ... a lot of gleaming chrome on that bike, eh? Thank you for showing us the REAL Crawford, August 27, 2005.
Just one great photo after another, Valerie, and no complaints about the heat! Thanks a million for posting your photos here. I hope you got a good helping of that barbeque!
Yeah, that was the last picture I took as we were leaving and we passed the peace house. Laugh!
I probably saw you. At NRO, Buzz is reporting accounts that had our side at 3000 to 3500. http://buzz.nationalreview.com/
I still wonder if that underestimates the figures. People were coming and then leaving at different parts of the day. Our side is full of people who have jobs and family committments--unlike the large percentage of professional protestors who make up Camp Casey.
Did you see Soldiers Praying Mom? Not sure if I see her in the photos..
