LIVE Report From Crawford (3,000 folks now and STILL COMING!)
Basil in Crawford | 8-27-05 | TxBubba

Posted on 08/27/2005 10:02:40 AM PDT by TXBubba

Just talked to Basil on site in Crawford, Texas. Currently there are about 100 folks there helping to set up. They have not received word about the caravan arrival in Waco yet. JimRob is riding with the caravan. She thinks it might get to Crawford around 1:00 p.m.

Basil says the stage is set up, the sound system is excellent and they have hung the most beautiful banners overnighted by W04Man on the stage. A big thanks for the banners, they are much appreciated!

Someone arrived early and hung yellow ribbons everywhere.

They have an American flag that is about 50 feet by 40 feet. Children of military personnel serving in the Middle East have written notes to their parents on the stripes of this flag. A very touching thing to behold.

The HOT Chapter booth is being unloaded right now. The will sell buttons made by Angelwood to help off set costs.

Someone rented the Community Center for our use so there is access to AC. However, they also have 10 tents set up. And there is a Moonwalk for the kiddos.

To top everything else there is BBQ on the grill! Basil is the official taster and says it is great!

That is all the news I have at the moment. It is hard to get a cell phone connection to Crawford but when I hear more I will try to update everyone.

I did not intend to be a "traffic cop". The rally had not yet started, so I was walking in the direction they were to come in to kind of explore.

My words cannot describe how exciting it was to see all those cars. It was amazing!

Fox just reported Cindy is getting death threats..don't like were that is going.

The last refuge of the intellectually and politically defeated liberal, claim death threats. It's worth a point or two in the polls or at the ballot box.... usually.

The person who wrote this article is one I wrote to--fussing because they weren't covering the Pro Bush/Troops rally. :)

I hope you can get a feel of how wonderful this show of love and support for all y'all was from all the great photos that have posted already! It was definitely a day I was thrilled and proud to be a part of! It was a reflection of the REAL America we all know exists but simply isn't "news-worthy". I guess.

Anyway, here is my meager contribution of photos ~

I picked out a spot close to the ice water ~ it was great to dip my hankie in and use it to cool off a bit!!

I let this pretty little girl give it a try and took the opportunity to explained to her the virtues of the old fashion custom of "a lady carrying a hankie"!
(such a "Grammy" type thing to do, I know)

after the rally, we sped into "downtown" Crawford ~

we must have been traveling at about 1/4 mile an hour! ;^)
I'd say the anti-Bush to Pro-Bush ratio was at least 3 to one in our favor!

and I got to spend some quality time (air conditioned) with new FReeper 911angelady in the really fun "Yellow Rose Of Texas" store

while she signed copies of her print for the folks at the rally.

911angelady (aka Lei Hennessy-Owen) is the artists who created the beautiful Angel that watches over Camp Qualls and she came in from Pennsylvania just to help support our President and our troops!

Freedom's Angel of Steadfast Love

Created by Lei Hennessy-Owen of Jennerstown,PA.,
this beautiful sculpture was given to the city of Crawford
in honor of President George W. Bush.

The following is from 911angelady's newly created Freep page:

"My name is Lei Hennessy-Owen,I am a nationally known sculptor and artist,
best known for my giant steel angels at the crash sites of 911,
WTC site, Flight 93,and the Pentagon.

The town of Crawford received the fourth angel in honor of our Commander in Chief,
and the incredible leadership he has shown us through such tragic events.

President Bush's angel was installed the October 23, 2004, right before the election,
and you know I was praying for his win!!

Ever since 911, 2001 I have been traveling, doing fundraisers, speaking,
everthing I can do to influence people, and explain why I love my country,
what it means to be a true patriot, and why we are so lucky to live in the greatest nation on earth.
And NO!! I'm not a liberal, "airy-fairy" artist!!

I am also a proud Marine mom, my only son Jensen signed up
before he had even graduated from highschool, he is on his second tour of Iraq,
he is 20 yrs. old. LCPL Jensen S. Perry, Marines 2nd LAR unit 73520,
most recently on missions near the Syrian border.
Yes, I pray a lot!!!

911angelady is a wonderful new addition to FR ~ I was thrilled to get the chance to get to know her!!

Seems to me I remember someone else actually writing on the stripes of the flag.

The big flag at the rally is a REPRESENTATION of the flag.

It's dimensions and markings are incorrect therefore it is not a "flag" per se.

Actual flag protocol does not apply.

Bob McDonald, left, and Rickey Smith, both of Crawford, Texas, decorated their horses with Pro-Bush messages,

I do believe I'd characterize the messages as anti-Cindy and Pro US, not necessarily pro-Bush. "Cindy go home" on one horse's a$$(the one on the left in that picture), with "U don't speak for me" (approximately) on that of the other.

Death Threat? From Herself?

It would seem she would have gotten death threats a long time ago if that were the case...come to think of it, last week on a lib letter she said she had a death threat. Let's see the phone records, letter, fax or email and investigate.

The thing I will remember the most about the caravan yesterday was an elderly man who came out of the cafe he was eating at and stood by the road giving all of us a wave and applause.

I am getting goose bumps just thinking about it now.

Cindy wishes she was getting death threats, she isn't worth killing.

Well not for us anyway. For us she's the perfect illustration of the "Useful Idiot" that the other side, including the Jihadies, makes such profligate use of.

This explains it. This is an excerpt from an article in the Sacramento Bee. I've read so much, not sure, but I believe that's where it came from. God Bless this woman.

"Earlier this month, Miriam Tidwell had stood alone after coming from Columbus, Ga., to counter the anti-war demonstrators at Sheehan's encampment. She was back Saturday, ensconced in a much bigger and like-minded crowd.
She doesn't always think war is an answer, said Tidwell, 50, but she is adamant about supporting the troops.

An administrator of a cancer treatment center, Tidwell arranged to have a wall-sized flag shipped in for the pro-Bush rally. The flag, the centerpiece for the event, was pieced together from paintings done by the children of Fort Benning soldiers.

She also arranged for rental of a giant tent, and negotiated for 1,000 pounds of ice - the company sent 2,000 pounds - and hundreds of water bottles, she said. Vendors gave her discounts or billed for cost only, she said."
