LIVE Report From Crawford (3,000 folks now and STILL COMING!)
Basil in Crawford | 8-27-05 | TxBubba

Posted on 08/27/2005 10:02:40 AM PDT by TXBubba

Just talked to Basil on site in Crawford, Texas. Currently there are about 100 folks there helping to set up. They have not received word about the caravan arrival in Waco yet. JimRob is riding with the caravan. She thinks it might get to Crawford around 1:00 p.m.

Basil says the stage is set up, the sound system is excellent and they have hung the most beautiful banners overnighted by W04Man on the stage. A big thanks for the banners, they are much appreciated!

Someone arrived early and hung yellow ribbons everywhere.

They have an American flag that is about 50 feet by 40 feet. Children of military personnel serving in the Middle East have written notes to their parents on the stripes of this flag. A very touching thing to behold.

The HOT Chapter booth is being unloaded right now. The will sell buttons made by Angelwood to help off set costs.

Someone rented the Community Center for our use so there is access to AC. However, they also have 10 tents set up. And there is a Moonwalk for the kiddos.

To top everything else there is BBQ on the grill! Basil is the official taster and says it is great!

That is all the news I have at the moment. It is hard to get a cell phone connection to Crawford but when I hear more I will try to update everyone.

I'll try to 'splain the broadcast industry and I know others will be along to fill in the gaps. They exist to sell advertising. Merchants and manufactures' buy these ads to expose their products and services to potential customers.
Now I'm an old f@rt but try to think back to the Lawrence Welk Show. He had great numbers, but as as popular as he was, no one would pay sufficient amounts for his show to be broadcast. Why?
His audience was *Seasoned Citizens* who would not pay for or buy items which required a lot of advertising to sale.
These folks at that stage in their lives had pretty much decided they were a 'Buick man', or Pennzoil was the best oil etc.
The networks have to have gullible audience or the sponsors won't buy. Thus they mold themselves to DUmmies. It's called capitalism.

Pretty pathetic Fox

And did you hear Geroldo's opening question to the mom representing MAF? Paraphrase: "You son is headed back to Iraq, that very dangerous place. How do you feel about that? I know my gets very upset when I go--I've been six times."

Geroldo, you a--hole. Nobody cares how many times you've been to Iraq, certainly not this lady. He made it sound like her son was doing something wrong.

Thanks for the update - 1st time I recall hearing that.

I LOVE BellyGirl - and everyone else from ProtestWarrior, but she/they are supposed to have their signs behind the protestors lines, to irk them / mock them.

Someone has to pay the people on t.v. The ads are targeted to a certain audience. Conservatives are a certain audience and Liberals are a certain audience. They do not try to sell liberals products on Rush Limbaugh. Roger has to please his advertisers who target his audience.

I hear you. Ft Lauderdale was a small town when we moved here in 1956. I still love living here, but it isn't what it used to be. Some change is for the better, some isn't. It's really difficult to manage change to keep everybody happy.

I know how devastating Andrew was for people who lived down there. My brother in law and his family were wiped out too. They rebuilt their lives and moved to the Keys, hoping to find some of the small town flavor that Homestead had, but it isn't there. We bought a place in a tiny non-tourist town in the panhandle 10 years ago, hoping to retire there, but now there's development all around it. The property has really appreciated, but we'd rather have it the way it was when we bought it, than the money.

It was a mistake-get over it.

Uh, no, I won't get over it.

Misunderstanding the sign is a mistake. Assaulting someone and destroying their property is a crime, and it's wrong.

That's awesome, it's shameful that network media didn't think our troops worthy to show it all.
