Hurricane Katrina continues to strengthen in the Gulf of Mexico. Currently, the forecast models are converging upon New Orleans. However, all interests in the northern Gulf of Mexico should follow the path of this storm, and be prepared for a major hurricane landfall. Throughout Friday, the official track forecasts moved west, as Hurricane Katrina delayed making the anticipated northwest turn.

Well, this storm's pretty kooky, so I don't know if we really can be sure where it's going until it's actually there. I suppose that New Orleans is pretty much nailed down now, though. I think every model shows it impacting directly or very near NO.
Jesus! That's dead on New Orleans. Worst-case scenario. The big one.
I have read this all day... IS IT TRUE THERE IS NO MANDATORY EVAC OF NEW ORLEANS YET ????????????? WHAT ??????????????????//
I am in Slidell.
I have Lake Pontchartrain in my back yard...I'm about 11 feet above sea level. Unless there's a significant change by the 5 a.m. report, we'll be getting out of here.
Looks like this is the time to post the new thread. Will have it up in a couple of minute with the ping list.
I hear you about those web cams. Tomorrow will be interesting. Katrina is going to cause major damage and terrible flooding from New Orleans through the South to D.C. and all the way up to New England.
If you go in the morning, you should be okay. The longer you wait, the dicier it gets. Happy flying. Take a raincoat.
Well....at least it wouldn't be "Bush's fault".
I took that off the KTL TV4 stream. It seems the line is actually at the AL/FL line according to the advisery.
the eye is rather large right now, around 30 miles diameter...tiny portions of the eye are beginning to warm and clear on IR though.
Makes you wonder how the snakes and turtles are smart enough to sense and leave the impending storm, yet people are too brain-dead to leave the "storm" that is the liberal Democrat party.
Nice job on these threads to everyone who is spending all the time to stay current. It is a huge job and we all appreciate it.
Prayers from Georgia for those in the path of Katrina. Praying for a shift away from N.O.
Nagin live on WWL!!! Now!!
Our prayers are with you Johnny and all others in the path of this nasty gal.
Time to start praying.
God help all the people who do not have the means to evacuate.
