C.I.A. Report Said to Fault Pre-9/11 Leadership

WASHINGTON, Aug. 25 - A long-awaited C.I.A. inspector general's report on the agency's performance before the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks includes detailed criticism of more than a dozen former and current agency officials, aiming its sharpest language at George J. Tenet, the former director, according to a former intelligence officer who was briefed on the findings and another government official who has seen the report.

Maybe that tsunami wiped them out. Doubtful the UN would acknowledge their existence or lack there of. The UN has been busy daubing their own crumbling walls, they've been pretty agreeable of late.

I just have one question.

In regards to anti-terror leadership ---- How can you fault what never existed?

Or...

I wonder if they were carrying anything that could have caused the earthquake that caused the Tsunmai.

Like if they were 'sunk'.

> The Clintons did it regularly and they got that loyalty too.

Loyalty at the barrel of a [figurative] gun (i.e., you will be professionally destroyed if you cross Hillary or Bill) hardly constitutes "loyalty". It is why their administration leaked like a sieve, while Bush's is largely airtight, much to the media's chagrin.

Hmmmmm.....

I may have to give this more thought, as I was mostly joking with the tsunami comment.

I can't imagine that somebody on this planet would not have recorded such activity had it occurred. However, in this day and age anything is possible.

If I understood everything I read correctly, I believe we are the ones that have that tech.

And if this was another 'silverfish' that we sunk, than we would be the ones that report what happen.

"And if this was another 'silverfish' that we sunk, than we would be the ones that report what happen."

I have no first hand knowledge. However, you may well be onto something, I had not really considered it.

The one thing that gives me pause is the number of deaths that occurred, even though some ignored warnings, is not something this present leadership would ignore.

Would be more plausible that someone else would sink rather than be apprehended with the dirty goods.

Interesting new twist to those that don't want to account for human trafficking/sex industry...coughs, documentation may be found at Big apple sex tours...nothing said here...connection...no responsibility.

I doubt the UN would know anything about ships or subs with WMD on them. Nor human trafficking. Nor funds that may cross over. Nope. Not at all. not coughing

I don't blame Tenet. He was the one in 1998 in a memo that we were at war with Bin Laden & his network of terrorists.

Also, that retired CIA analyst who ran the Bin Laden Unit at the CIA said again JUST LAST WEEK that they had given the CLINTON ADMINISTRATION TEN (10) chances to capture or kill Bin Laden, but they (Clinton) declined to do anything EVERY TIME.

Tenet was a good guy, so get off his back. He could not do anything without the permission of the policy makers. I would like Tenet to publicly explain why they were not able to go after Bin Laden & his band of kiilers.

"The families of the victims had repeatedly asked for some kind of accountability," Ms. Hill said. The Congressional inquiry did not have time to do "the kind of painstaking work necessary to assess individual responsibility," she said.

Nor to take it all the way to the top it seems.

They make it sound like the Director is God on high, sending down directives to his lowly minions and accountable to nobody.

But, I guess in this case he was. I understand President Clinton rarely, if ever met with him.

The President is supposed to create intelligence policy, and the Director and others to carry it out.

Just goes to show what can happen when the President voluntarily takes himself out of the loop.

how the US govt can create, then not recognize, its own worst enemies, is WAAAAAAAAAAY beyond me.

Godspeed

To this day I have never been able to figure out why Bush kept Tenet in place as long as he did.

900+ FBI files on the (R) party and it's contributors....BOTH sides of the aisle having connections to Chinese Nuke spying and Military espionage...GHWB possibly compromised as well...the ENTIRE Washingnot/Business elite having complete control over America...Illegal Infiltration proving every day that we are no more than SERFS...

Hmm, I can't figure it out either...

It's Standard Operating Procedure to fire the high-level appointees of the other party when you come into office and your own people. Tenet was a political appointee.

Keeping on holdovers from the preceding administration is likely to discourage your appointees. The point is that you should be loyal to your friends and allies, not your enemies.
