Keanu Reeves was reported last night to be embroiled in a romance with Diane Keaton, the actress who is nearly 20 years his senior.
Reeves, 40, was said to have dumped actress girlfriend Lynn Collins, 28, to date the 59-yearold Oscar winner.
Reeves met Miss Keaton when they appeared together in the 2003 comedy Something's Gotta Give. He began dating Miss Collins three months ago after they met on the set of the forthcoming drama Il Mare.
A friend told the U.S. magazine Star that Reeves was 'hit hard' by turning 40 last year.
Breaking up with Miss Collins 'kind of said goodbye to a way of living he's outgrown'.
Well, my philosophy is that doing what works beats the heck out of doing any damn thing one pleases. You see, I'm interested in being happy, joyous, fulfilled. Not in winning, in beating anyone out, not in proving my sexual power to the world by hooking up with hot young studs, not in putting on a show of any sort. I have observed a lot of human nature, human behavior, and I read a tremendous amount of literature, which adds to my understanding of people. Pushing against human nature is a bad idea.
Women and men are DIFFERENT. The last 40 years of the so-called "sexual revolution" haven't changed that one iota, and my prediction is that it will never change.
Yeah, but people love them for who they are. Julia has long reigned as the supreme of the box office. Keanu was in a movie called "Pillar of Clouds" or some such name. He was good in it. Any of you ladies see it?
Keanu had a girlfriend about 2 years ago that was carrying his child. She had a car wreck and she was killed and the baby too.
No, Brad Pitt is hot looking and he's over 40 too :))
I think the child died first (Stillborn), then later the girlfriend died in a wreck.
He's a man I call an "old soul" because of all that's happened to him. He may be young in body, but there are some aspects of him that have been aged by circumstance.
I don't know what you mean. I was 32, a divorced mother of two (ages 4 and 5), and a successful professional (CPA amd computers) when I met my husband. He was 45 at the time. I certainly wan't looking for a daddy-- but finding a man willing to be the father-figure for my girls was wonderful. In fact, I wasn't interested in any man who wasn't willing to fill that role-- my children came first.
But, a 40 year-old childless man dating a 60 year-old woman does seem to me to be reverting to an earlier stage of development-- looking for a mommy/teacher figure.
Yeah, that was a telling remark, wasn't it.
gross.
Nah,
My guess is that Keanu and Diane live a long, long time together, just like my 80 y/o Uncle Dolph and Aunt Lynn (who's 10, no, er...13, no uh, mebby that's 15 !?!) years older than he.
Seems she misplaced her birth certificate ;)
That is your opinion.
See what I just posted to Countyline about some people being older inside than they are physcially.
I've worked with geriatrics and I've seen folks at 60 who had the emotional/mental maturity of a 20 year old and I've seen 20 year olds who were already old men.
Age is as internal as it is external.
Well it obviously has changed and this article is testament to that. As women grow more financially independent they too can enjoy the socially acceptable unions that were the dominion of men for centuries. This fact seems to make some men crazy.
Personally, I find all the anti-Dowd postings of Catherine Zeta Jones funny. But I don't work my self up into a frenzy because she married the Crypt Keeper. Like many other younger women she hitched herself to a wealthy, powerful man. Now if some men want to believe that younger woman love them for "themselves" and don't notice their aging flesh and are oblivious to their financial assets, God bless their delusional souls.
I'm sure Keaton and Reeves will be able to figure out what works for them without outside advise.
Oh,man, you remember the Freak Out album too!!
1966,wasn't it?
I've been here before the Oval Office Oratorios as well..
I think so! Suzy Creamcheese was an old acquaintance..
I'm pretty sure I am older than you are.... that's a good, safe policy you have. Older women like me are dangerous!
I'll have to settle for Keanu - he's not as smart as you are.
I also remember a song from that album called Trouble Coming Everyday, about the Watts Riot.
Zappa was one crazy satirist.
I surprised myself by loving the movie "Something's Gotta Give" - I just watched it again last Sunday morning.
I must say though, that Keaton and Reeves did not look right together.
However Keanu and I would look fabulous together!
You're right, I looked it up-- she adopted a baby girl when she was 50 and a baby boy when she was 55. Lucky kids-- when they head off to college, she'll be 68 for the girl, 73 for the boy.
I read a quote where she said that it was "humbling" being the middle-aged mother of two young children. No kidding-- she's surprised by this? I'm 46 (my daughters are 18 and 19 and off at college) and I volunteer sometimes at the church to take care of babies between 1 and 2. One time I did that, I pulled both quad muscles in the process of getting up from the floor while holding a sleeping baby. I'm pretty fit, but it was just really awkward. Mothers should be young enough to actively engage with their children.
But, I do concede that those children, particularly the boy, need a father figure.
Isn't it amazing how messed up life gets when people start fooling around with nature? I devoutly pray that I'm wrong, but unless she's an extraordinarily gifted mother, my prediction is that one or both of those kids will be messed up.
Yes, I remember that too now. I had forgotten the stillborn baby happened first.
I agree about the old soul part. His life has had tragedy. He is very close to his sister who has cancer. Is she still doing okay?
