Nationally syndicated talk-show host Laurie Roth was critically injured in a motorcycle crash on highway 206 Thursday near Mount Spokane High School. Roth, who lives in the Spokane area and is heard locally on AM 590, hit a deer while riding her motorcycle just before 4 p.m. She was airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center, where Thursday night she remained in critical condition. State Troopers say Roth was wearing her helmet at the time of the accident.

This is very sad news. Does anyone have any other information related to this story? Prayers go out to Laurie and her family.

If you hit a deer while on a motorcycle, wearing a full suit of armor wouldn't help much! Yikes! When you've seen what a 160# deer does to a car that hits it, you don't even want to think about what would happen to someone on a bike!

As a avid Harley rider, I have had some close calls on animals, hit some road kill once, that was bad enough, prayers for her, and her family...

May God be with her.

"What does a doctor call a motorcycle?"

A "donorcycle."

My cousins husband is a doctor and a regular in our poker games. One of my friends is awaiting a heart transplant. He joined our poker game one night and the doctor said to him "waiting for the next motorcycle accident are ya?"

Over 4,000 people are killed on motorcycle each year.

We have friends that have 26 yo son, that lost control of his bike at over 100 mph a few months ago. He escaped with only the lost of a leg, a arm and massive head injuries. He is starting to recover some, but this was a brilliant young man with several degrees and now is good for nothing.

There was a tv show several years ago, one of the first about an actual Trauma center, which focused on two of the Trauma docs. One was middle aged, the other a young man, just a few years out of med school. The younger doc rode a motorcycle, and said that he had a recurring nightmare in which he was involved in a bad accident on his bike, and that his beeper started going off because the EMTs, looking for the Trauma doc, were calling HIM.

Know a guy whose brother was hit broadside when someone ran a red light. Lost his leg.

Know another guy former bro in law, hit a gaurd rail, he will never be the same, once you get a certain amount of head trauma forget it, even if there is no major brain damage they never fully recover.

After 85 stitches, I decided it was better to drive a convertable.

Our friend also hit a guard rail. He was so lucky. Sliced him open like a tin can, but it only make a small slit in his spleen.

You have got to understand. It's their (the animals) home we are riding through. I'm not a tree hugger, but sometimes, we can be like little kids running through the house. And we wonder why these things happen.

May God be with her. The helmet didn't help much.

Good for nothing? Well, jeez, might as well euthanize him.

I know lots of folks with motorcycles, and most of them are pretty careful not to get into trouble in the first place.

Of course, once you're actually in trouble on a motorcycle, you're probably going to get very badly hurt.... And the tolerance for getting into trouble is a lot smaller than in a car. Still, most of the time the line is crossed due to stupitity and/or carelessness.

My daughter was stopped at a stop sign on the base at Oceana when a huge buck came out of the woods and ran smack dab into her car. The deer was killed, the car was a mess, while she was calling her husband someone stole the deer.

If there had been someone in the passenger seat they would have been killed instantly and she was sitting still.

Been riding on the street in the NYC-Metro area for 25 years and have only been hit by a bird. There's been (and continues to be) countless other "attempts on my life" by idiots that either don't see you or just don't care, but I love the sport and continue to commute as often as possible by motorcycle. I log about 14,000 miles a year.

There's some things you can't avoid and when your time is up, there's not much you can do about it. But there's much you CAN do to preserve your life and the life of others when riding. It's those things that help make the sport as enjoyable as it is.

Take the courses from the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Then take them again....and again....and again. It can save your life. http://www.msf-usa.org/

I suffered a severe concussion back in '91 due to an automobile accident. I STILL suffer effects from it. Was lucky though - it should have been much, much worse.

WE had an incident here last year where couple from Memphis and their daughter and son in law all on motorcycles, were stopped for traffic a drunk woman plowed into them and only one survived and she was badly hurt.

I know that motorcycles are fun, but they are so dangerous.
