HAMBURG, Germany (Reuters) - More than 1,000 German police were deployed in a large-scale search for three terror suspects in the north German port city of Hamburg on Thursday, a police spokesman said.
Roadblocks and controls were set up at 12 points in Germany's second city after an Arabic-speaking witness overheard the men at a bus stop on Wednesday, praising Allah and heroism in Arabic. One of the men was carrying a backpack.

"German Police in Hamburg End Search for Three Terror Suspects"
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Aug. 26 (Bloomberg) -- More than 1,000 police officers in the German city of Hamburg last night ended a search for three terrorism suspects who spoke in Arabic about "heroism in front of Allah,'' police said.
A witness two days ago overheard the men speaking at a bus stop at the Holstenstrasse train station and heard them say, "We will tomorrow stand as heroes in front of Allah,'' police in the northern port city said."
ARTICLE SNIPPET#2: "The three men boarded a bus where an observation camera took pictures of them, which are now being used in the manhunt. There was no direct evidence for a planned attack in the city, Kunz said."
Well, that does not mean these creeps are going to Disneyland for the day.
I understand.
Who knows if they are even still in Germany?
It's election season and Shcröder is way behind. That's all this is for.

There is only one problem: As in the U.S., every state has its own police forces (with the exemption of the federal police). If it were just an election ploy the governing mayor of Hamburg (which is a state in itself), Ole von Beust, probably wouldn't have played along.
Anyway, three chechens between 21 and 25 years of age have been apprehended and are being questioned right now.
