SEATTLE - Two soldiers who just returned from a year in Iraq were badly beaten in an attack outside Pioneer Square. But believe it or not, someone caught the beating on videotape. Now, police are asking for your help identifying the suspects.
The brutality of it all was captured on tape outside of Larry's Nightclub on First and Yesler on July 31.
Police say the victims were with two women who'd been groped by the suspects. One of the women threw a hot dog at the suspects and walked away.
They didn't get very far. The three suspects ran after them and began attacking the two men -- two soldiers who'd come home from the war.
The graphic videotape shows both victims getting beaten over and over again, and then after one of the victims loses consciousness, a suspect starts stomping on his head.
Now police want your help in catching these guys.
"We consider them very dangerous," said Seattle Police Officer Sean Whitcomb.
After not getting any leads, Seattle police have just released this tape to the media even though it happened over three weeks ago.
If you know who these suspects are, or have any information in the case, you're asked to call Seattle Police.
Both victims suffered broken jaws, while one suffered a broken arm and both had other broken bones and several bruises.
Just out of curiousity, were the soldiers in uniforms? Did the perps know the men were soldiers?
I do not know.
Thanks.
I'll make fun of karate because jiu-jitsu beats karate every day of the week.
From the video photos...they were not in uniform.
Predatory savages.
If you were alone or even with one buddy and you both were unarmed, what could you do to a gang? The other two didn't fare well.
Break it up? This wasn't a bar fight, it was a gang. You would be in it for the duration.
"--even though the black population of Seattle is only 12.5-13% of the entire metropolitan population, that the black population commits 87% of all violent crime...and that is based on 2004 figures---."
When I saw the title, I assumed it was just some war-hateing,blue-staters out to start some crap. It might not be too far from the truth.
From what I saw, ,there were three punks beating up two men...I dont recall it being said that the other people in that crowd were part of that gang...nor were the people driving by in their cars part of that gang...unless I am greatly mistaken, most of that people in that crowd were not connected to either the three thugs, or the two men that got beaten up...
As has been pointed out before, all it would have taken would have been for a few people to shout for the police, and the crowd could have rushed the three thugs and held them until the police arrived...
I do realize that sometimes circumstances would prevent someone from giving assistance, because they would be putting themselves into immediate danger...but I dont know that this is the case in this situation...of course, I was not there, just saw the film of this attack...from the film, I just thought that the numbers in the crowd could have done more...
One time, long ago, my brother broke up a street fight, where three guys were beating up another guy in front of a bar...my brother, being mighty big(6'5", 280lbs), thought he would lend assistance to the one getting beaten up...other people followed his example, and the three thugs were appropriately subdued, and held until the police could arrive...
My brother got stabbed right next to his right eye with broken glass...he had to be taken immediately to the hospital, and thankfully his eye was not damaged, and he retained his sight in that right eye...very thankfully, because he was already blind in his left eye, as a result of an accident when he was a child...My mom was hysterical when this happened, and chastized him for putting himself into such danger, and coming close to being permanently blind...his reply was that he just was not thinking about that...he saw someone in dire straights, who needed help, and without even thinking, he just came to that mans aid...luckily for him, he came out of it ok...
Until I see any video differently, it just appears that the members in the crowd just did not care to help, but rather just wanted to watch..
I would want to be the person that didn't just stand around.
I as in others find that as we get older, we can't go hand-to-hand so we go armed.
I'd like to think that I'd jump in to help. But its hard to say since I wasn't there.
Police Need Your Help In Capturing Beating Suspects (Soldiers beaten in Seattle)
Another neat trick is for the Post Commander to restrict all soldiers to the base below the rank of E-6 and instruct everyone else to buy groceries, gas and alcohol on post only for about 60 days.
This happened in FT Carson Colorado once when I was passing thru there and it darn near bankrupted many bars and nightclubs.
The Army got what it wanted from the Colorado Springs city councel in only about 2 weeks.
Where is the NYPD when you need them?
I'm with you in the anger that so many appear to watch or drive by without helping. The difference is that those in cars or alone on the street see themselves as one and the gang as many.... even though there are many more of us than there are thugs.
I'd have been on the phone, but I'm not sure what kind of hero would have taken on a gang like this.
The cops on the latest KOMO report claim they were there 2 minutes from the first punch. I think that's overly optimistic.
HEADS UP!
HANNITY & COLMES IS COVERING THIS VERY SHORTLY!

The problem with finding these perps is that the incident occurred over three weeks ago, and the video was just released this week. The thugs have had ample time to move on to another city--maybe yours or mine.
In the videotaped incident where the cops subdued a black teenager in CA, the tapes were televised immediately and ad nauseum.
One of the issues here is the duplicity of the media regarding such incidents, and the political correctness of police departments such as the one in Seattle. For fear of profiling, they do not give out accurate descriptions of persons involved in such assaults. This handicaps the general public in trying to avoid such persons and the places which they frequent, and hinders apprehension of the suspects.
(Did I pass the political corrctness test imposed by some FReepers on the previous thread that was pulled???)
