Two Dead in Fresh Egyptian Blasts ( Sharm Investigators Themselves Killed by Explosions)

Two Egyptian policemen have been killed and two others injured in two blasts in northern Sinai, officials said. The interior ministry said police were operating in Jabal Halal when the booby-trapped devices exploded.

It was the second such incident in the area in two days, and came as security forces searched for militants suspected in several recent bomb attacks.

It is not clear if the devices were freshly planted or date back to past conflicts in Sinai with Israel.

An explosion thought to have been from a landmine damaged an armoured car and wounded at least three policemen on Wednesday.

Hundreds of people are reported to have been arrested since Tuesday, when about 3,500 police began their search.

The Jabal Halal area is full of caves and valleys, some of which are said by officials to have been booby-trapped by a key suspect in last month's Sharm al-Sheikh resort bombings and attacks in eastern Sinai last year.

There is also an article today that Egypt has imposed a press blackout on further coverage of the Sinai terror investigations.

Another terrorist I.E.D. attack in Sinai

Yesterday in Sinai an explosion destroyed an aromerd vehicle and injured at least 3 police officers during a search for more suspects for the blasts on Red Sea resorts during last year. Color me confused, but I thought they already arrested and /or killed all the people involved in those blasts. How many people were involved in this thing exactly? Whatever...

"The explosion was strong and appears to have come from a land mine which blew up under the vehicle," said one security source, who asked not to be named.

LOL. A mine? that same old lie again? Don't they ever make up anything new?

I hate to say this: But I told you this would most likely happen again. The terrorists in Egypt are learning new tricks from their Iraqi compatriots. Chances are there are Al Qaeda elements there who are helping to incite the Bedouins, who most of them are furious at the government for its heavy handed techniques with them and the amounts of bedouin youths who got arrested all throughout last year ever since the Taba bombings.

At first the clashes seemed to be centerd over not handing any more men over to the police until the fate of the others arrested became clear, but now it seems that the Bedouins have given up on playing defense and are on the offensive against the government.

If indeed this change in tactics is due to Al Qaeda influences using the current state of extreme discontent between the Bedouins and the government to get the bedouins to help them execute terrorist attacks in Egypt, then the government is in big trouble. The Bedouins are experts at smuggeling, well, almost anything and know their way around the borders of Egypt. They could smuggle weapons, explosives, terrorists, anything they want smuggled through our borders and there is nothing the government can do about it.

So far this situation has been contained in Sinai. Let's hope it stays this way, altough I highly doubt it. Something tells me this is just the begining and that things will get a whole lot worse before they get

Thanks for the in-depth news. I believe the posted article refers to a second and later blast than this and occurred about 24 hours after the first.
