This may not be such big news because after all we are only talking about Shaggy here, but I was just at my friends house listening to a pre-release CD of Shaggy's called "Clothes Drop" which is due out September 20, and considering that Shaggy is an ex-Marine I was surprised to hear an anti-US protest song called "Repent" on the CD.
I don't have the exact words, but what I heard when the song "Repent" started was mention of:
Leadership fails before it begins, motivated by personal gain...repent, repent, repent...
Fighting for what they did not create, crying peace while inflicting pain... repent, repent, repent...
We're two steps away from a real disaster...
This song came across to me as if we Americans are the problem and that WE need to repent. Shaggy also mentions "World Leaders" need to do something, which of course means do something about Bush, not the barbaric mass murderer terrorists.
I was honestly surprised because even though Shaggy was born in Jamaica and is obviously going after the Reggae sound and protest theme, he was a US Marine who served in the first Gulf War. At least that is what his official website claims as well as the promotion material of the pre-release CD.
To me, that is committing a treasonous act, to stab your fellow Marines in the back by undermining the decicions made by our re-elected President the Commander in Chief while we got Marines in the face of the enemy getting bombed and shot at.
Shaggy could have done a generic peace song talking about the desire for "World Peace" and such but to single out Americans as the root of the problem that needs to be fixed, while ignoring the actual cold-blooded mass murderer terrorists is a disgrace!
Not only that but he is a hypocite, whining about "personal gain" when that is obviously what he is chasing with this CD. How come Shaggy doen't give up on "personal gain" and sings his music in the park for free or releases his CD at cost?
Finally, this is a desperate comeback attempt after his last albumflopped miserably when his record label in NY went bankrupt.
Never heard of him.
I am sure this will affect me as much as all of the other Shaggy songs I've never had the misfortune of listening to.
(Denny Crane: "Sometimes you can only look for answers from God and failing that... and Fox News".)

That's the only Shaggy I know.
Shaggy is still making music? And he's a former Marine?
How odd...
wasn't shaggy scooby doo's little nephew?
Scooby Doo's buddy?
Who?
I prefer Metallica's "DON'T TREAD ON ME"
C'mon, guys, that's Scrappy-Doo! We're talking, like, Shaggy. Zoiks!
No to mention a former cartoon character
Bad advice from his agent?
Shaggy looks like a burner.
Just this morning my 15-yo son told me that he and his friends were talking about 'saving up and moving to Europe' after they graduate. Why, I asked? 'Because we don't want to live here, you know all the wars and stuff, and anyway something bad is probably gonna happen here'.
I asked him if he thought he would be safer living in Europe. 'Oh yeah, nothing bad is happening in peaceful countries.' I mentioned the Islamization of Europe and the general rudeness and socialism and stuffiness and, of course, the recent terror attacks in London and elsewhere. You just can't talk to a teenager.
Fortunately I know that the odds of him 'saving money' are exactly zero, and he will have forgotten this silly plan by the time he sees a car he wants.
The stoner from Scooby Doo does CDs?
Shaggy DU Doo?
;o)
Another mouth-breathing entertainer who JUST committed career-suicide. Nothing to see here...

THIS IS WONDERFUL NEWS!!! CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT FRANCE WILL LOOK LIKE AFTER IT HAS BEEN INVADED BY A BUNCH OF AMERICAN TEENAGERS????? Pizza boxes everywhere; Mickey D's stuff growing green things in the parks; car tracks through all the gardens. What a hoot!!!
