State legislators said yesterday that Virginia is facing an immigration crisis on par with Arizona and New Mexico and urged Gov. Mark Warner to declare an emergency like the governors of those two states did last week.
"If New Mexico and Arizona qualify, certainly Northern Virginia would," the Fairfax County Republican said.
"The amount of money that we are spending on illegal aliens is monstrous. Any way that we can get the federal government to help us fix the problem they've created I'm sure would go over 100 percent with 100 percent approval from the caucus."

" . . Virginia will never go for Hillary."==========================================
Never say never - #37
If any real attention is to be drawn to the issue, a specific tax to support illegal expenditures should be passed. Make it a payroll tax.
Wrong approach. Reform must come from the citizens and not from the government.
I've e-mailed him with this same thought and have encouraged those I know to do the same.
I asked Perry if he wanted to end up like Governor Davis..
Actually, the day that I heard Newt Gingrich on with Sean Hannity (I think it was the day before Richardson came out with his "NM border emergency"), I knew what was coming. Newt said that whomever grabbed on to the border issue would take the next election, and the RATS are grabbing on. Does anyone believe they will do anything meaningful? If Warner takes a stand, it won't be to help Hillary. It will be to help himself and his teeth. :#)
It is amazing how few people seem to realize the vast majority of Virginia is not in close proximity to DC.......that just happens to be the population center.
The same is true for lots of other states that have only 1 or 2 "main" population centers - people tend to use that as a picture of the state in its entirety.
"Virginia will never go for Hillary."
Maybe.
But what if she made inroads, and the RNC had to dump resources into a formerly safe state...and she took down another state or two?
Around here you just need to drive down any road past a tomato field :)
Point taken. But I can only be responsible for one state at a time. ;-)
mmmmm....salsa...
You are exactly correct - but far too many are more than happy to let the government "handle" and problem.......
Of course.......the tomato fields are next to the pepper patches :)
~sigh~
I want a farm. Just a small one.
My youngest son confirmed again the other day how big a problem it is in VA. He works at repairing hydraulic equipment, but between jobs worked day labor. He says it is next to impossible to even get near a place that hires day labor since the mass of illegals will attempt to run off any non-hispanic. He and his boss can't drive up to a quick shop of any kind without having them surround their truck and pound on it trying to get a job. His car was damaged in a fender-bender in his apartment parking lot and the cops won't do squat because the other driver is a known MS-13 member. He incurred some medical bills that the hospital is harrassing him for even though he makes at least minimum payments while the same hospitals write off the bills of illegals. He was also denied in-state tuition for school/training because he hasn't lived there long enough but illegals get in-state tuition. Up to this point he has been pretty open in his view of illegals (they are just trying to make a living), but now that he is immersed in the mess he just wants to see them gone.
There's 88 acres for sale across from me :)
It'd be one heck of a commute...
That's true.......there is always investment for retirement..........It's got 2 rentals on it and the acreage itself is rented to a farmer for soybeans.
We're working on our retirement plan. Right now we're projecting to buy something as soon as we get the oldest thru college. He's just starting his junior year of high school. If he gets his football scholarship, we'll buy sooner.
But we're picky. We want waterfront.
Football scholarships are GOOD!
I understand about the waterfront :)
Reading the real estate listings arund here I am totally astounded by how much the cost of water front propert has gone up, just in the 2 years we've been here....let alone the 5 years since we had first decided to move here.
