Pacific Ocean (Aug. 18, 2005) - Two F/A-18F Super Hornets, assigned to the "Diamondbacks" of Strike Fighter Squadron One Zero Two (VFA-102), launch off the flight deck after completing their deployment aboard the conventionally powered aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). Kitty Hawk and embarked Carrier Air Wing Five (CVW-5) are currently returning to their homeport after a scheduled deployment in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility. Persian Gulf (Aug. 23, 2005) - Electronics Technician 3rd Class Elmarco McNair of Jackson, Miss., inspects a Random Access Memory (RAM) chip aboard the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68). The Nimitz Carrier Strike Group is currently on a regularly scheduled deployment and is participating in Maritime Security Operations (MSO). MSO set the conditions for security and stability in the maritime environment as well as complement the counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional nations. MSO deny international terrorists use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons, or other material. Pacific Ocean (Aug. 22, 2005) - Sailors aboard the Military Sealift Command (MSC) fast combat support ship USNS Rainier (T-AOE 7), attach a cargo pendant to an MH-60S Seahawk helicopter during an ordnance transfer with the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76).
