Guest Chef Spotsybelle

For the freedom you enjoyed yesterday...
Thank the Veterans who served in
The United States Armed Forces.

Looking forward to tomorrow's freedom?
Support The United States Armed Forces Today!

Welcome Troops, Veterans, Military Families, Allies, and FRiends!
Tomkow twisted the chef's arm and made all kinds of burka-related threats demanding that the Canteen celebrate National Waffle Day. Thank goodness this day only comes once a year!

On this Day
1869 Cornelius Swarthout of Troy, New York patented his invention -- the waffle iron

Born on this Day
1905 Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup, delta blues singer and guitarist;
best known outside blues circles for writing songs later covered by Elvis Presley such as "That's All Right Mama" and
"My Baby Left Me"

On this Day in History
79 Mount Vesuvius, east of Naples, Italy,
erupted and buried Pompeii

On this Day in History
410 Rome was overrun by the Visigoths , led by King Alaric; although no longer the official capital city, Rome's fall to Alaric symbolized the end of the Western Roman Empire

On this Day in History
1814 British forces under General Robert Ross
sacked Washington, DC, burning the Capitol and White House

On this Day in History
1989 Gambling Pete Rose was permanently suspended from
Major League Baseball for betting on the games

Don't forget the syrup!
PANCAKES next Wednesday
definitely, troops!

You're confusing me with those that ACTUA;Y did something. All I did was walk around airplanes..try to keep a low profile...and stay out of trouble.
Two out of three ain't bad. :-)

But I thank you anyway.

After the video completely downloads and starts to play then click on Start/Search, look for all files and folders. Type in nut.wmv and click on Search Now. When Search finds the file then drag/drop to your desktop or the My Documents folder or whichever folder you choose.

If you're really computer savvy you can find it in the Temporary Internet Files folder and copy it to wherever you would like.

Honey, I don't care what you did when you went in the military. Just the fact that you signed up and went during wartime, makes you one of my heros.

Good Morning, Canteen FRiends!

Sarge is reporting back in, just for a bit, to let everyone know we're all right out here. Sarge will return with a Daily Report tomorrow, when there's time to post. But seeing as the Web service opened up again, Sarge thought it was a good idea to get a word out to y'all.

Unfortunately I have to teach again today (and tomorrow) so I can't stay.:(

I have next week off and I am REALLY looking forward to it............no big plans....not going anywhere..........just puttering around the house and doing whatever I feel like doing.

Probably will have lunch with my older boychild, and daughter child, and Katie & I are going out for lunch on Thursday.

She got a very brief phone call from Evan Monday night; he was exhausted and they had a bad connection. But at least she got to hear his voice.:)

For over 40 years now I have heard the people of Groton/New London crying their hearts out about wanting the submarine base to close.

Now that it looks like the base is definitely going to close guess who is crying.

They're pathetic.
