Rush (Limbaugh), Not Weighing in on Pat Robertson
RushLimbaugh.com ^ | 8/23/05 | Rush Limbaugh

RUSH: There is a network today that is obsessed with Pat Robertson. This network has called me no less than three times asking me when I'm going to talk about it so they can record it. This network hasn't cared one whit about any of the outrageous assassination threats that George Bush gets from members of the left. They don't care. It's so patently obvious. I knew they're going to be listening, that's why I keep saying, "The mainstream media does not set the agenda of this show!"

If you want to find out what I think, report what I think, not what you care about what I think on your interest, but if you want to report on this program, actually report what happens here. But don't think you can call here and set up a premise where I'm going to fall into your trap to help you try to condemn the entire conservative movement. The jig's up! It ain't going to happen anymore -- and if I did say something about it, it would just be to tweak them, where they wouldn't understand it and they'd report it and it would be cast as the absolute worst thing in the world that had ever been said. (ahem)

In fact, I'll tell you what it is in this context. I was talking to guys around here, and I was telling everybody, three different inquiries, and they all want to know what I was going to say about Pat Robertson. I said, "You know what it is…?" In fact before this even happened I got an e-mail from friend today who said, "This Robertson stuff is just unfortunate because you know the mainstream press is going to try to link you with it."

I'm not kidding: five minutes after I get his e-mail is when I get the first inquiry about this! So, H.R. down here today and Snerdley in there, and I said, "You know what would be fun to say?"

They said, "Don't say it! Don't say it! Even if you put it in total context, it will be misreported and they won't report your context, and they'll report as though you actually said it."

I said, "Well, I will have actually said it but in the guise of tweaking them." You think I should say it or not? Snerdley thinks (interruption) Now you think I should? Okay. Here's what I was toying with, because I knew -- and it still may happen. Let's see if it happens. Let's see if what I'm about to say to you ends up being reported as, "and Rush Limbaugh weighed in on the Pat Robertson controversy yesterday by saying," blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Okay, let me say at the outset, I am not weighing in on the Pat Robertson controversy. That's not what this is about. I am tweaking the mainstream press, desperately hoping I criticize Robertson so that they can lump me with him and all of us with him to try to discredit the whole of the conservative movement and so what I would say that we were toying around with here:

Well, Pat, why did you not include Castro?

I still see absolutely no difference between Robertson and his comments and an inman's with his.

The difference is that one is offered as an opinion whereas the other is issued as an edict, or marching orders. Is that too nuanced for you to grasp?

*Chavez*

Chavez is like a spoiled child craving attention. He wouldn't make a pimple on Uncle Sam's butt.

All descisions should be made in light of moral guidelines.

You have a gang leader in your city who makes a pact with a gang leader in another city to disrupt the legitimate merchants doing business in your city. They pressure the legitimate businesses to make compromises that are in the gang leaders best interest and the legitimate merchants and their customers worst interest. By making a pact with the gang leader in the other city, they can cohesively bring done the execution of legitimate business.

Both gang leaders are mass murderers and tyrants who are trying to tear down the practices of free thinking individuals.

Hope this helps!

So when Clinton uses dozens of cruise missiles to try to "take out" the people involved in an assasination attempt against a former US president, he's hailed as a hero, but when some conservative religious figure that the leftists love to hate merely suggest that we might want to "take out" someone who's actively acting against the US and the safety of its citizens, he's roundly condemned. Go figure.

I heard it today. One of the first times in a long time I was able to tune in.
I was wondering why Fox & Friends thought this was "news" - after hearing him today, I "got" it.

Robertson offered his opinion that the US should lift it's ban on political assassination, in no way did he suggest that any group other than the US government pursue this.

In March of 2003, Bush ordered a missile strike on a house where it was believed that Saddam Hussein might have been staying, I don't recall anyone who has an opinion I respect condemning that.

You are right! Rush was brilliant today.....he knows the media and their next moves before they even know them. He predicted they would be listening for "sound bites" concerning Pat Robertson and "flipped the script" and gave commentary that he knew would drive them insane. You could tell he thoroughly enjoyed it, as we fans did as well!!

I love cliché arguments, they convince how smart you are and I must give up immediately. So you win, I lose, and as long as I love you we will get along just fine.

Just in 24 hours they ( MSM ) jump all over the Pat Robertson controversy, but, they have had almost a month to report about Able Danger, and we probably won't hear about Able Danger until congress has hearings about it, and then, only then will the MSM reluctantly report on it, and spin it as they wish, yup, no liberal bias here.

Even if our military and government did have plans to do that, they won't tell the MSM until after the fact, or not at all.

Actually, that's pretty funny.
For the record, I can't stand him because of his African interests. Anybody interested can check out the business interests he and Jesse Jackson have (not together) regarding diamonds and African dictators.

Listen up.

Islamofascists want to convert the entire world to the Muslim faith. To accomplish that goal Islamofascists want to kill everyone who stands in their way.

Hugo Chavez is a psychotic dictator and is extremely hostile to US interests. We ignore Chavez at our own peril. Leaders in that region like Chavez and Castro are enemies of America. Chavez has funded Al-Qaeda and Castro has moved Cuba's biological program from Cuba to Venezuela.

The law that makes assassination of foreign leaders should be overturned, immediately. So when the time comes, we can take out this nutcase, immediately.

And the difference between Robertson saying what he said and an inman calling for jihad is ...

The Iman is using hundreds of young men as human bombs; Pat Robertson is one man stating an opinion. Do you take 'Onward, Christian Soldiers' literally?
