Massive vanity.
I've been trying to locate a gas/oil reporting service that I can subscribe to for the N.E. Louisana area. This is new for me so I don't know if the one I found through google would be sufficient.
Specfically I need a service that would report info on any activity in the Vixen gas field.
Any industry insiders know of a good reporting service for this area?
Thanks, Rb.
Try googling LA Oil & Gas and see what you get.
Do you have property or mineral rights in NE LA? Where abouts? My grandfather had a spread just outside of Forest.
Try a state oil & gas commission or platts.com
Platts
Thanks for the link.
This is property that belongs to someone close to me. In a roundabout way they found out that there's been some recent speculation going on and they want to get a heads up on what's been happening.
I did and I still can't make heads or tails of those links.
Speculation as in drilling? In TX, wells and output are reported to the Railroad Commission. I recommend calling the county tax assessor collector and/or the school district offices. They should be able to tell you what who gives them the data on new accounts (taxing entities.)
But, before you do, you will need a legal description of the property (usually looks like '120 S/W' Every state but TX uses a quadrant system for this, so that should make it easier. If you have the tax office account number, that's even better.
As an aside:
You can game Railroad Commission files hard, if so inclined (e.g., hold off on reporting what you have in your tank battery, over-report (if selling), etc, especially if the pumper is your buddy).
Indeed, this practice is very common.
Theoretically illegal, but next to impossible to prove.
The state link has production by field, operator, whatnot.
It's all you need, but keep in mind my post re: gaming of the system, epecially in LA, and especially while gas is $9.
You are way outa my league! I work for people who have sold an impressive section but retained oil and mineral rights. I suspect they are 'siphoning' as you allude to, but I've not the knowledge nor the ability to prove it.
Besides, we have geos on board who are responsible for that.
I am petroleum engineer (and an geologist) and run an oil company, after all.
But the real knowledge comes from growing up on a ranch and helping the pumpers on weekends/summer, followed by being (eventually) tool pusher on a drilling rig.
Learned the scams; protect yourself.
We are interested in the transfer of gas and oil leases in this particular field.
Does the sale of roaylties have to reported as well or are they considered a private asset?
How can you sell royalties without selling the mineral rights?
"Does the sale of royalties have to be reported as well or are they considered a private asset?"
Reporting to a public entity - yes, you should. Not a private asset if you are talking about (not) reporting to a public entity. Also, transfer of assets to qualify for entitlements is a no-no. I have worked for Human Services
in the past.
If I am not understanding your situation, I apologize. You can pm me if you want.
