I doubt they have any actual intention of punishing this guy, but I'd love to be proven wrong.
I disagree on the tenure issue. Are you tenured or do you have experience in said area? I can tell you getting fired for sexual harrassment (sometimes even a minor charge of such is adequate), saying or expressing an opinion that is at odds with the PC crowd, making a statement opposing homos, transgenders, and perverts of many sorts, are all grounds for immediate dismissal.
Open disagreement with administrators may not get you fired, but it can result in having your research lab confiscated, and no raises for years on end. I personally know a professor that received no raise for 5 consecutive years. I have been in academia for 25 years and have seen it all. Tenured positions are being eliminated, so not to worry for the future.
Yeah, and I'll bet you weren't polite to the nice officers when they led you off in hand cuffs either. So there!
??DENVER ? The University of Colorado has dropped its....."DNA"..... investigation into the American Indian heritage of the professor who came under fire for likening Sept. 11 victims to an infamous Nazi, the professor himself says......??????
/OFF....great 'DNA' science..... at The 'Uni'versity of 'boulder' Colorado?
/now if this was a case of........
/extreme sarcasm
>>>>Tenured positions are being eliminated, so not to worry for the future.
They need to eliminate entire university departments. Why would anyone want a degree in Diversity Studies or Gender Equity?
My guess is their lawyers convinced them Churchill would've bled 'em for gazillions in legal fees fighting a termination all the way to the World Court.
(Oops, did I say World Court? I meant Supreme Court. Maybe.)
The 'University' of colorado should be required to drop the use of 'University'.
excellent post!
Makes one proud to be a Hillsdale alumnus.
There you go.
That is exactly how many campuses deal with charges against the liberal elite--ignore it long enough and it will go away--shuffle a few papers, call some meetings, form a committee, tell the provost, spin the story to the local media, and act like your are abundantly concerned.
Yes, my husband and I have many nicknames for it (we live in Longmont, btw).
the freakshow
freaktown
the people's republic of Boulder
"wer'e not communist, we're just eccentric"
Ringling Brothers circus
Tofutown
...just to name a few
Is anyone surprised?
Even though it can be proved, he probably can't be fired.
too PC.
(but don't DARE use an indian name for a sports team)
Or how bout gay and lesbian studies. It is insanity, but at least it is PC. What do you do with the degrees you ask??--you feed the pablum to young, impressionable students--somebody has to do something to keep the pervert movement viable if this country is going to fulfill its dream of becoming the second coming of Rome. (Sarcasm)
Maybe all the Indian-named teams should be renamed the "Ward Churchills." :)
This is the first of many coats of whitewash that CU will be applying to the Churchill case.
I think I will declare myself as being Inuit and apply for some minority jobs.
Uh, because two months into Electrical Engineering they discovered there's a whole bunch of mathematics involved, and as Barbie says, "Math is hard!"
Also, most of the __________ "studies" crowd are people whose status as __________ defines their whole life and being (fill in the blank with whichever PC minority group comes to mind).
What a tragedy, for humans to lose their grip on their individuality and immerse themselves solely in group membership.
I mean, even Ward Churchill. He could have done something worthwhile, instead he put his whole soul and effort into "being somebody," and the somebody he chose to be was a fake.
I see this frequently with military wannabees (which Churchill also is, having falsified his undistinguished war record to a degree that would have shamed Liveshot Kerry). I've come to be involved in busting a couple of wannabees a year, and they have a remarkable similarity to one another. Either way, whether a guy's a phony Indian, a phony SEAL, or a phony MD, it's usually a sign of deep-seated feelings of inadequacy on the part of the individual concerned.
Churchill might appear delusional to us, but deep down he knows what a loser he is. He'll never face it, though. A long term fraud like his corrodes the character, and often leads to clinical personality disorders, which I am not qualified to diagnose, but someone who is ought to get Ward into the lab soon. Not that there's any good prognosis for personality disorders.
Likewise, the personal fabulist, wannabee, Munchhausen Syndrome guy, whichever you call him, will never stop, even if he loses his family and career due to his lies. I knew one of these guys that was thrown out of the Army for falsifying his record. Later, he went to prison for life for killing his wife. He's still there. You would think that would be rock bottom but he's still telling the other jailbirds fantasy stories about his days as a big hero.
He and Ward would make a fine couple. I'd spit on them both, but spit deserves better.
d.o.l.
Criminal Numbber 18F
I'm actually 1/124th American Indian. Do I qualify?
>>>>Uh, because two months into Electrical Engineering they discovered there's a whole bunch of mathematics involved
Well, that's what I get for asking a stupid question...LOL!
