A bartender sets up his bar in a party tent for a memorial to Gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson near his home at the Owl Farm in Woody Creek, Colo., on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005. Family and friends are to gather at the site Saturday night to pay tribute to Thompson. His ashes are to be spread by a fireworks projectile during the event. Thompson shot himself to death six months ago on Feb. 20 at age 67. (AP Photo/Ed Andrieski)

If I had a wife like Terrezza, I would get a blowup doll for myself.

Behind closed doors you could almost hear the RATS lamenting.....

Hanging out with the beautiful people is a full time job.
Besides, had Kerry been elected, Hunter Thompson was in line to be his drug czar.

Hmmm... a BILLION dollars, but I'd have to be married to The-RAY-zuh. Included in that I'd imagine are at least occasional conjugal responsibilities. Probably you could get a pretty big house and keep away from her, and maybe she'd be somewhere else while congress was in session, but still...
Nope, I really don't think I could do it. Money just doesn't mean that much to me.

Methinks, like when Gore did the hot-tub skit on SNL, this is Kerry's "I'm really NOT ever gonna run again for the WH" moment..

Just what exactly is a "Gozno journalist"? They keep throwing that word around as if everyone knows what it means, but I don't think anybody does.

His ashes are to be spread by a fireworks projectile during the event. Wouldn't that be an environmental disaster?! Where was the EPA and the ENVIRO WACKOS?! They were contributing to GLOBAL WARMING!!!

Sounds like it would have been a good party, though.
If anything, going to this party actually improves my opinion of Kerry.

Just what exactly is a "Gozno journalist"? IIRC, "Gonzo" is a word that was invented by Thompson himself, to refer to the type of "journalism" he wrote, which used an exaggerated, bizzare, and highly subjective style (see "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas"). The Sesame Street character came later. :-)

Liberals are always assumed to be "hip" - the ithyphallic Bill Clinton being its iconic representation.
The ironic thing is that the two most recent presidential contenders in this category are so far removed from this template that one wonders if some political subconscious syndrome is at work. Did Bill so thoroughly break the mold?
