King Sponsors Immigration Forum - "I suggest build a fence - it's cheap."

Des Moines, August 22nd, 2005- The debate over how to control illegal immigration takes center stage today at a forum here in Des Moines. Iowa Congressman Steve King is sponsoring this forum.

Not only are some of his ideas controversial, so are some of the guests-- including the leader of the Minuteman project. It's a volunteer group that began patrolling the U.S.- Mexico border in April looking for illegal immigrants trying to cross over. The group does not have any official sanctioning from U.S. immigration officials.

Congressman King has his own ideas on how to solve the border issue, "I suggest this. Build a fence- it's cheap, you can build it 10 foot high with barb wire on top for 680 million dollars. We spend six billion a year just incarcerating criminal aliens against those who come in and commit crimes against Americans. This would make the best return."

Many Latino organizations are promising to meet ideas like the Minuteman project.and a fence around the U.S., with fierce opposition. Today's forum will also focus on immigration's impact on homeland security as well as on the economy.

A wall-fence combo is fine.

A majority of Americans want the border secured.

Even though its part of their Constitutional duties and oath of office -- SECURE-PROTECT-DEFEND --- our elected politicos in DC don't have the political will to get the job done. The GOP and PresBush have failed the American people in this regard.

Should the day come that our lax border security leads to a terrorist attack that kills American citizens, I will have great difficulty supporting this President anylonger.

The President has been given fair notice by the American people. Poll after poll shows Americans want serious immigration reform that secures the borders, punishes employers who hire illegals and halts all welfare handouts to illegals. The longer the GOP and this President screw around and don't address the issue properly, the greater likelihood a terrorist, or terrorists, will enter the US illegally and kill Americans. It's that simple.

Which is all anyone needs to know to understand that these organizations do not want the problem solved. It is not a problem to them.

I agree, with one more caveat. Boortz said on C-span that the poor would get a tax prebate at the beginning of every month. We would HAVE to have a way to making sure this only went to people living here legally.

"When you consider that the recent highway bill the President signed into law contained some $30-billion in pork barrel projects, increasing the size of the BP ten fold and building a wall on our borders is really a drop in the political bucket."

========================================

The REAL I.D. Act authorized an additional 2,000 new BP agents each year over the next ten years.

That's an additional 20,000 new agents.

To date, the Bush Administration has funded only 200 for FY 2006.

What does that tell you?

The Israeli fence works for their purposes because they are not trying to keep out migrant workers. It takes about one day to get a workers permit to allow a person to cross back and forth.

Some areas have gates that are guarded by cameras and biometric locks. Certain farmers can use these gates at will.

We have been building a fence far better than the Israeli fence. It has cost about $5 Billion and is almost complete. Don't bother looking for it, it's invisible. (Hint: do a FR search for "fence")

Your #38 is a perfect solution as a physical barrier and border on the Mexican border.

That center perimter between the two fences would be perfect for military use in the event of of heightened national emergency.

Yup we're almost there, just a little more ways to go now and it'll be finished. All we need is a few sensors and it'll be impenetrable. Meanwhile 4000+ per night continue to violate US sovereignty and put strain on our communities and steal jobs from American citizens.

Only a physical barrier like a fence coupled with a strong BP presence will stop intruders. Invisible walls don't cut it.

Did any of you hear the Hispanic from the U.S. Chamber of Commece on C-Span this morning lying thru his teeth? He called the Illegals "immigrants" and said they were hired legally by showing their Social Security cards and their Green cards. He was nothing more than a shill for the Illegals.

No I didn't see it but I'll check out the C-Span site, they usually post a link to the replay. Anytime there's someone speaking from the Chamber of Commerce you know it's an obnoxious open borders, illegal alien shill.

Put bounties on illegal aliens - $10,000 per illegal alien + 50% of all of their assets

Confiscate any and all of their properties, assets, vehicles, homes, bank accounts, investments - all have been gained thru using stolen or faked or illegally obtained IDs

The US government would get the bounty financing from $20,000 fines per illegal alien working for, any and all employers

The fines + the confiscated assets and properties would fund the large bounties, the government agents, the Border Patrol, ICE, US Customs, state & local LEO agencies, deportation judges & prosecutores & expenses, and help pay for many other government expense - as well as allow a huge cuts in income, sales, and property taxes

The IRS knows with 90 days if an employee is an illegal alien or using faked or stolen SS and other IDs

The government knows within a few short days if a prospective buyer of a handgun is an honest USA citizen who may purchase

Obviously if the government can check out honest American firearms buyers in a few days - they do not care if it takes 90 days to spot an illegal alien or and ID thief - and then do nothing about it to the employer or the illegal alien employee

At the rate things are going now - I believe that some of these crooked employers and bureaucrats and politicians are crossing into an area that is not a safe or sane place to be

I do not advocate anything regarding their futures or well being that is illegal - I just am playing Mz. Cleo here -

Not a "Marshal Plan"

A "Patton Plan"...........

P.S. - If anyone thinks that millions of illegal aliens will be lining up to pay dinky $1,000 fines under the proposed Kennedy-McCain bill - they are insane......

Bounties and deputizing in the past is what brought stability, commerce, peace, and civilization to the West.

Excellent! Even compliments the natural surroundings! Must contain sensors to detect compromises, and at least enough "sensory response" to repel things like cattle, coyotes...

At this point, the immense costs to construct, implement and maintain a border "fence" (barricade of whatever sort is effective to stem illegal aliens entering the country from anywhere, South Border entirely to begin with), is outweighed by the greater immense costs to deal with the problems created by illegal immigration, particularly from the South.

Someone could try to run the numbers for the past twenty years as to healthcare, housing, crime, prisons, lawyers, court costs all, law enforcement, forged economic deals all, litter...all of it, all the resulting costs to the U.S. caused by illegal aliens in the country, and I AM SURE those costs would be MUCH GREATER than the millions/billions involved in just building a secure Southern Border barricade and then getting on with the North.

Illegal aliens cannot, apparently, "speak or read Spanish," either. When confronted with immigration requirements especially, they seem to all fall very stupid, language comprehension-wise.

I watched a vignette two days ago taken at the CA-Mexico border (highly manned, not like it's the middle of nowhere) and they showed numerous individuals being uncovered from various attempted-smuggler locations in vehicles, and routinely, ALL of those outrolled/uncovered as intending smuggling as illegal aliens into the U.S. across the border, they ALL laughed, smiled, burst out in funny comments...

They don't take U.S. immigration requirements seriously. From the look of things, they're having a lot of fun, find it funny to be found out.

THAT is next to be changed, although this evening all I can think of is pamphlets dropped from the sky all over South/Central America that would probably have the polar opposite response than intended unless and until there is some sort of EFFECTIVE COUNTER by the U.S. to illegal immigration.

Until there is some sort of effective stance taken by the U.S., illegal immigration will continue to be something to be laughed at by those who engage in it. They're even rewarded when they ridicule the existing laws.

I also like the idea of assessing fines to those caught as illegal aliens, or in the process of trying (set foot illegally in the U.S., the ticker starts).

Levy fines daily upon those for their VIOLATION OF U.S. LAWS, and even when/if they go back whereever, the next time they're up on the radar, their total appears: five years later, daily fine times 365x5 (theoretically, just an example)...

Such that, wherever they are on the globe, a person will continue to be liable for the debt.

That WOULD have an impact on the illegal alien problem, based upon individual accountability. At least, it's a start. It'd also make a big impression on those lenders in the U.S. who are doling out the mortgages to whomever based upon whatever document, forged or otherwise, anyone not a U.S. citizen can pony up.

I would rather see a 15 to 20 ft precast concrete wall, like the type we have on the sides of freeways.

I actually did some checking on this a couple of years ago. It would be easy to cast the panels in the vicinity of the Mexican border and use the same kinds of cranes that set them into place as when they are used as freeway sound barriers.

Columns with vertical slots are stood upright. The panels are simply lowered down into these slots and stacked, one on top of another, as high as the columns stand.

It's a very rapid process to build such walls.

I talked to a contractor installing these beside a freeway. He said they could easily build such a wall 2,000 miles long, if necessary. They even follow the natural land contour as they proceed in building the wall.

Wow...that would be a bonanza for illegals. You know the liberals and the OBL crowd would demand it...

yup, I agree:
They can pour molds on the jobs site, with a pumper truck. You can see an animated illustration of precast concrete fence construction here: (With the slotted posts)
