Pope leads 'Catholic Woodstock'

COLOGNE, Germany -- Pope Benedict XVI brought his first foreign trip as pope to a joyful conclusion yesterday, telling more than a million mainly youthful and exuberant followers at an outdoor Mass that they should not pick and choose at their faith.

"If it is pushed too far, religion becomes almost a consumer product," he said. "People choose what they like, and some are even able to make a profit from it.

"But religion constructed on a 'do-it-yourself' basis cannot ultimately help us. It may be comfortable, but at times of crisis we are left to ourselves."

For a chance to experience the pope, many of the youths spent Saturday night camped out on the field.

"It was like nothing I have ever experienced before," said Danielle Langenkam, 16, of Ohio. "He seemed so open and friendly. He was everything I expected and a lot more."

[Pope leads 'Catholic Woodstock']

I heard "The Who" played an awesome version of AVE MARIA, followed by "Jefferson Airplane" doing HOW GREAT THOU ART.

...as a Father of 4, I can attest to a young persons hunger (mind, body and soul) for sustenance.

MIND...I teach what I know to be true and send them to a private Catholic School for the 3 R's...

BODY...Tough as it is at times, I "treat" with fast food monthly- while cooking nutritious meals daily.(not always palatable...but, nutritious...;>)

SOUL...Thank G*D history has transcended the blatant human error imposed on the Universal Church for millinia and gave humanity the humility (opportunity) to embrace POPE JPII and POPE BENEDICT.

NEVER has the Conservatism of a Righteous Nation and a Righteous Religion harmonized to send so powerful a message.

American Conservatism and Universal Christian Dogma shall triumph.

I disagree with the title by the Washington Times.

Woodstock was all about cultural and moral depravity.

The World Youth Day was about the opposite -- family, God, and having high moral values.

And, yes, it was probably alot of fun as well...

The anti-thesis of Woodstock would be something promoting solid moral values and traditional family values -- the opposite of the depravity of Woodstock and the Culture of Hell that was proclaimed at Woodstock.

"Remember, don't eat the brown Eucharist, man!"

Some people under Communism were forced to do that in Communist prisons. Do you still think it is funny?

Maybe your mother was a very brown person...

"Remember, don't eat the brown Eucharist, man!" This actually sums up the flavor of this rag quite well.

But the highlight was when the new Pontiff did his version of "Amazing Grace" on his guitar at the end...
