Persian Gulf (Aug. 18, 2005) - The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, U.S. Air Force Gen. Richard B. Myers speaks with the Commanding Officer of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68), Capt. Ted Branch on the flight deck during an air-power demonstration. The Nimitz Strike Group is currently on a regularly scheduled deployment and is participating in Maritime Security Operations (MSO). MSO set the conditions for security and stability in the maritime environment as well as complement the counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional nations. MSO deny international terrorists use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons, or other material. Thanks, lauren, for the pictures of our military. Gen Myers and the USO visited South Korea. JJ got to see them Saturday at Osan AB, and txradioguy was going to be working the Sunday show at Camp Casey. They are also doing Japan, and Elmendorf AFB here in Anchorage on Tuesday.
