The Talk Shows
Sunday, August 21th, 2005
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.; New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson (D).
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Sens. Russ Feingold, D-Wis., and Trent Lott, R-Miss.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Former (Clinton Administration) Labor Secretary Robert Reich; former Council of Economic Advisers Chairman Glenn Hubbard.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Sens. George Allen, R-Va., and Chuck Hagel, R-Neb.; New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson (D); Kinky Friedman, musician, mystery novelist and Texas gubernatorial candidate.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich.; Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif.; Laith Kubba, adviser to the Iraqi prime minister; South Korean Foreign Minister Ban Ki-Moon; Israeli Finance Minister Ehud Olmert.
I saw a film clip on C-Span this morning where Trent Lott was going on and on about how clinton was alwayds on the phone with him "the way a leader should" but President Bush is not on the phone w/leaders in Congress as much as clinton was.
Good morning AB, and thanks for the post today.
I think I have a lead on the DNC talking points too. I watched Juan Williams on FNC's The Beltway Boys yesterday so I already know some of them.
Gaza and the Palestinians deserve more money from the US and UN. Bad Gaza economy is Israel's fault.
Iraq exit strategy: bring troops home now because the polls don't show enough support.
Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer? Just publicity, no facts or documentation, no wall between Defense and Justice existed, and it's just Republicans going after Clinton & Co again.
Borders, it's a huge problem but Juan's not getting into legal versus illegal immigrants and the 9/11 Commission asked for 2000 agents and Bush only provided for 200.
Juan's Tip sheet biggie? Gas prices! Investigate the oil companies obscene profits.
I know I'm putting my neck on the line but I'm looking forward to seeing how many are repeated on the shows today.
And a special hello to rodguy911, who got into C-SPAN when Col. Shaffer was on-air. Great question about Gorelick's wall and Shaffer responded with factual information that explained it as it impacted Able Danger.
He has another qualifier for MSM. He is also against Rummy like McCain, Hagel, Graham.
How quickly he fails to recognize that it was the same media that piled on him to drive out from his leadership post.
Egads! I can't stand David Gregory. And Feingold must be running for president..he has one of those kerryesque fake tans.
Fox had a segment on Able Danger last week. The panel thought this was not a legit story. I can see their point - one source who has no evidence to back up his claims (yet).
What more can be covered? This really is not much of a story right now - there are no confirmed sources. If someone actually involved comes forward with these claims - this story will blow up big time. Until then, it is a bunch of people who despise the Clinton administration hoping that this is true (while fun - this doesn't make it news).
He was on the phone alot because all he could or would do was talk. Obviously, Trent is a man who needs to be made to feel "special". How pathetic.
Just another Sunday morning.
Listening to Juan yesterday was like voluntarily listening to fingernails on a chalkboard. Wow, he was shrill!
You are right about his previewing the D talking points!
Great post Morgan.
As usual you covered it all in a few paragraphs. I am still amazed that the MSM has the nerve to totally ignore the Able Danger topic after Shaffer made the rounds this week.
He was on every talk show you can possibly get on from Laura to Sean to Savage and still they don't have the guts to confront him. At least they did on c-span and I am glad to have gotten through. But once again any freeper here would have made the same comments I did.
What/Who was Graham referring to when he said, "Mothers should have some say over the lives of their children?"
the best sunday programing is right here on the free republic web site
Lott's pathetic need to be liked gave us the shared power fiasco on the judiciary committee and the incomplete senate impeachment hearing. I simply cannot stand to even hear his glib remarks about anything.
It appears that David Gregory is being groomed for something or other. He's been everywhere. He is so blatently a lefty I think they are making a big mistake if they make him any more visible than he already is.
Another problem with Juan Williams is his shouting! It's as though he thinks he has to speak loudly to be heard or understood. I'm starting to think we can judge the importance of each talking point by how loud Juan proclaims it.
Well put
...clinton was always on the phone...

Clinton is talented at saying what people want to hear. So are successful scriptwriters in Hollywood. So is Rush, when he can extemporaneously riff in many different "characters."
This talent for "dialogue" has NOTHING to to with leadership or character.
Clinton is a fictional character - even in his own head!
Don't get to consoled.
When the Plugster ain't showin', he's plottin'.
