He was convicted in 1982 and since then has been imprisoned on death row awaiting execution. During his twenty year stay on death row Mumial Abu-Jamal has become somewhat of a celebrity and has received the support of numerous people who are opposed to the death penalty. One of which is Mr. Ben Cohen the co-owner of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream. Although Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream has been sold to Unilever United States Inc., he and the cofounder Mr. Jerry Greenfield continue to run the day to day operations of the company. Every time a police officer enters Bank One Ballpark, whether they be a resident of Arizona, or a resident of another state including Pennsylvania they are reminded by the signs advertising Ben and Jerry’s Ice cream that the person responsible for Officer Faulkner’s death has not received the punishment for this hennas act. By your removing their product from Bank One Ballpark, you will send the message that the Diamondback organization, along with the residents and Police officers of the state of Arizona, stand firmly behind our law enforcement brothers and sisters of the Fraternal Order of Police in Philadelphia and throughout the United States.
