Ben and Jerry never met a Liberal Cause that they didn't like--- August 9, 2002 Mr. Jerry Colangelo 401 E. Jefferson St Phoenix, AZ. 85004 Mr. Colangelo, The 5700 hundred members of the Arizona State Lodge, Fraternal Order of Police and the 300,000 members nation wide respectfully request that you remove Ben and Jerrys Ice Cream products form Bank One Ballpark, and replace them with a vender who has not taken a stance against Law and Order in the United States. On December 9, 1981, Philadelphia Police Officer Daniel Faulkner was brutally murdered by Wesley Cook. Cook, AKA Mumia Abu-Jamal. He was convicted in 1982 and since then has been imprisoned on death row awaiting execution. During his twenty year stay on death row Mumial Abu-Jamal has become somewhat of a celebrity and has received the support of numerous people who are opposed to the death penalty. One of which is Mr. Ben Cohen the co-owner of Ben and Jerrys Ice Cream. Although Ben and Jerrys Ice Cream has been sold to Unilever United States Inc., he and the cofounder Mr. Jerry Greenfield continue to run the day to day operations of the company. Every time a police officer enters Bank One Ballpark, whether they be a resident of Arizona, or a resident of another state including Pennsylvania they are reminded by the signs advertising Ben and Jerrys Ice cream that the person responsible for Officer Faulkners death has not received the punishment for this hennas act. By your removing their product from Bank One Ballpark, you will send the message that the Diamondback organization, along with the residents and Police officers of the state of Arizona, stand firmly behind our law enforcement brothers and sisters of the Fraternal Order of Police in Philadelphia and throughout the United States. Thank you, _________________________________ Kenneth Magoch, President Fraternal Order of Police Arizona State Lodge P.O. Box 42993 Tucson, AZ. 85733-2993
