The infamous NCAA Executive Committee is telling member schools what, in their exalted estimation, constitutes an acceptable nickname or mascot. Currently, Indian names are deemed unacceptable. But, few know who these nameless, faceless bureaucrats are.
Therefore, from the NCAA website, the 19 names of the NCAA Executive Committee are published here:
AD Ronald Wellman, Wake Forest; Pres. Wayne Clough, Ga. Tech; Pres. John Welty, Cal. St. Fresno; Pres. Martin Jischke, Purdue; Pres. Michael Adams, U. of Georgia; Pres. Peter Likins, U. of Arizona; Pres. Phillip Austin, U. of Connecticut; Pres. Shirley Raines, U. of Memphis; Pres. Sidney McPhee, MTSU; Pres. Clinton Bristow, Alcorn St.; Pres. Daniel Curran, U. of Dayton; Pres. Robert Fisher, Belmont U.; Pres. Walter Harrison, U. of Hartford; Chan. Kathryn Martin, U. of Minn. Duluth; FAR Paul Engelmann, Central Mo. State; Pres. Arthur Kirk, St. Leo U.; Pres. Ivory Nelson, Lincoln U.(Pa.); FAR Michael Miranda, Plattsburgh St.(N.Y.) and; Pres. Phillip Stone, Bridgewater College.
These are the 19 individuals who have decided to insert their fractured political consciousness upon the entire college athletic world.
Perhaps intrepid journalists in their respective geographical areas will ask these clowns the tough questions concerning their personal beliefs on this issue.
Perhaps alumni and supporters will withhold all financial support to the academic areas of these universities until this situation is rectified.
Perhaps the citizens of this nation have finally had a belly full of these socialist educators trying to impose their insane doctrine upon the rest of us......in the name of "sensitivity".
Enough is enough !
thats funny, because the NCAA is already RUNNING fromt his decision becasue more or less every school protested or told them where to go....
And if you can't use these names for a sports team, maybe they could be used for a band.
Next, they'll demand an end to naming military helicopters such the Apache, Chinook, Chickataw, Blackhawk, etc.
Then move on.org to counties such as Seminole, Chocktaw, Cherokee, etc...
Then on to State names such as Iowa, Delaware, etc.
Nuts running wild.
I'm sure that if enough schools got together and formed an alternative to the NCAA it wouldn't take long for the NCAA to be history.
Your screen name is great! Always admired the Gray Ghost, and my personal library contains several books about him.
My dog is pretty ticked about the NC State Wolfpack and Washington Huskies.
NO kidding!
I heard a group of devil worshippers are protesting The Duke blue devils too :)
Deo Vindice !
Yeah, you can take over half of the nicknames in college athletics and, by the standards of these nuts, find something that is "insensitive".
The NCAA needs to be dismantled, and quickly.
