"The withdrawal is the stupidest thing to date. The only thing it could possibly do is allow Israel to flatten the place in the future without killing any of there own."

The Jewish and Palestinian areas were not near each other. No more than other Palestinian areas are to 1948 Israel.

If the settlment communities were not defensible... how is Israel more so now that they lost strategic depth?

"Or do you really believe that the Palestinians will declare victory, lay down their arms, settle peacably into Gaza, and wait another 40 years for Israel to respect the wishes of the rest of the world and withdraw their civilian population from the occupied West Bank?"

So naive.

Do you think the Palestinians will EVER lay down their arms?

On Saturday, several dozen Hamas gunmen took over Gaza's central square and closed all entrances to it.

[sigh] You can never find a Predator when you need one.

Without something to lose, no. (And Israel never will either.)

The world gave Israel a state and promised the Palestinians one. That needs to be completed.

It's called Jordan.

Look at the original partition maps.

They want ANOTHER one.

That's my theory. Clearing the battlefield of easy targets for the enemy before the big one gets started.

"Without something to lose, no. (And Israel never will either.)"

Furthermore.

They could have one under Arafat. They don't want a Palestinian state - they want ALL of Israel. That's why they turned down Barak.

I have 2 questions I'd really like to see you answer.

If the Israelis laid down their arms tomorrow.... what would the Palestinians do?

If the Palestinians laid down their arms tomorrow... what would Isralis do?

...What Sharon et. al. hope to accomplish is the establishment of undisputed control of a set of territories that have an overwhelmingly Jewish character (language and culture if you will). This is what disengagement is all about. Once Israel and the Palestinians are separated, security becomes a straightforward military matter between states. ...

Interesting analysis. Good post.

How come everyone else in the world knew it would happen and it seems Sharon didn't. I think they were banking on this...that's the only way it makes sense.

I doubt Sharon had illusions about a peaceful Hamas.

Either the Pali people will get behind a "democratic" Abbas or they will support Hamas.

I should think Sharon will then take the appropriate response.

Above you see the entire Arab lie is one simple sentence.

The British controlled the area and it became untenable for them. They announced they were leaving and told the UN to do what it would. (This after they, decades before, already split the area of "Palestine" and gave the Arabs 2/3's. This was about the last one third).

The UN voted to partition the 1/3 between Arabs and Jews. So if the World gave Israel to the Jews, it simultaneously gave to the Arabs.

Jews accepted, Arabs rejected.

Arabs Nations attacked Israel. No one gave the Jews Israel. No one protected the Jews. Jews won Israel with blood and sweat.

Gaza and the "West Bank" was in Arab hands for the next 20 years - Why no cry for a "Palestinian" State?

More wars. More Israeli victories. More claims Israel surrenders.

The Arabs made a bet (again and again) that they can defeat the Jews and lost.

Did you make any bets lately? Maybe even something like a Lotto ticket. Wouldn't it be nice if the game was played the Arab way. You win the prize. Congratulations. You lose, you go back to the ticket agent and demand your money back. Or you will kill him, his kids, .....everyone.

Gamble, lose, kill, repeat.

There are 1.4 million crazy muslim arabs in Gaza. There are (were) 8000 jews in Gaza. Israel itself has a total population of about 4 million.

Suggestion to the Jews of Gaza: Take the money and get the heck out of that heck-hole.

What Sharon et. al. hope to accomplish is the establishment of undisputed control of a set of territories that have an overwhelmingly Jewish character (language and culture if you will). This is what disengagement is all about. Once Israel and the Palestinians are separated, security becomes a straightforward military matter between states.

Well said.

I don't need a history lesson. Other than the Israelis, who says that the Palestibians lost their chance for a state of their own when the other Arab states attacked Israel?

"Why no cry for a "Palestinian" State?"

You mean other than the numerous UN Resolutions over the last 40 years calling for one?

Exactly! Gaza, 2005 ='s Munich, 1938.

The next ten years are going to see a lot of violence around the world as the West capitulates to the East.

I don't need a history lesson.

I believe you. You know the truth. You know you're lying.

other Arabs attacked

LOLOLOLOLOLOL

UN Resolutions over the last 40 years

You mean last 38 years, don't you. Which is exactly what I wrote.

Why no calls for a "Palestinian" state 1948-1967, when Arabs has control?

Because Arabs just want to kill. Just look at the thread's article. All they know how to do is kill. And sulk.

"It's called Jordan.

At one time. Then there was Palestine and Trans-Jordan. Then a Jewish Palestinian State and an Arab Palestinian State and Jordan.

Blah blah blah.

I'm referring to UN 181. But you knew that.

Your premise doesn't support your conclusion.

See Munich seven years after 1938 -- 1945.

UN 181?

You mean the resolution that gave the Palestinian Arabs a State? I thought you wrote above that the World only gave the Jews a State?

So tell us, if the UN gave both the Palestinian Jews and Palestinian Arabs separate States, why wasn't there an Arab Palestinian State created? Was it the Jews' fault?

Maybe the Arabs shouldn't have attacked, attempting to kill Israel.

Maybe restitutions, if any, is owed only by the Arabs.

Lie some more.

Your premise doesn't support your conclusion.

I beg to differ. The "Left", all of it, supported the defeat of the German/Tokyo Axis. The West was united, even its Left. The Left now opposes the forces against the evil of the Arabs. The West is split, the East is not. It's still going to be a long and bloody 10 years.
