US shocked at Pak anti-Christian books

Washington, August 19: The United States has expressed 'serious concern' over anti-Christian and anti-Jewish passages in Pakistani textbooks and termed them as "unacceptable and inciteful".

The issue is a matter of concern for the US even though Pakistan is in the process of reviewing the educational system, State Department spokesman Sean Mccormack said.

"These type of reports are of serious concern to us," he said referring to reports in a section of the US media that 'jihad' was still a part of school curricula in Pakistan.

The United States has specifically raised the issue of "unacceptable and inciteful" textbooks with the Pakistan government.

"We have engaged the Pakistani government on this issue, specifically on the issue of textbooks and language that, upon reading it, was clearly, clearly unacceptable and inciteful or would cause people to perhaps lash out with violent actions and encourages people to do that," Mccormack told reporters here.

He said the issue was raised during the recent visit of the Pakistani education minister to Washington.

Its not just Christians and jews though. Pakistan's mainstream textbooks incite murder against muslim sects considered apostate - Ahmediyas and Shias for example and of course against old nemesis - India and Hindus in particular.

The report that raised this problem again is here:

http://www.sdpi.org/whats_new/reporton/State%20of%20Curr&TextBooks.pdf

It's from a Pakistani thinktank and pretty much illustrates that the public school cirriculum in Pakistan revolves around teaching hatred, xenophobia, anti-Hindu and anti-Jewish attitudes, and of course the benefits of jihad.

Wonderful stuff /sarc

And what would the Muslim world think if US textbooks taught our kids to stay away from Muslims, do not trust them or make friends with them, that God will punish you if you associate with them?

Hmm...I imagine that far, far worse is taught in the Madrassas.

Also a surprisingly good article from the LA Slimes (via Lodi News-Sentinel) here:

http://www.lodinews.com/articles/2005/08/19/terrorism/3_schools_050819.txt

Excerpt:

"At present, jihad is continuing in different parts of the world," the chapter reads. "Numerous mujahedeen (holy warriors) of Islam are involved in defending their religion, and independence, and to help their oppressed brothers across the world."

The textbook for adolescent students says Muslims are allowed to "take up arms" and wage jihad in self-defense or if they are prevented from practicing their religion.

"When God's people are forced to become slaves of man-made laws, they are hindered from practicing the religion of their God," the textbook says. "When all the legal ways in this regard are closed, then power should be used to eliminate the evil.

"If Muslims are being oppressed," the book reads, "then jihad is necessary to free them from this cruel oppression."

"Jihad" can mean peaceful struggle as well as holy war. Jihad can be waged on several levels, from a peaceful, inner struggle for one's own soul to the killing of infidels.

Those madrassas are nothing more than potent breeding grounds of filth and hate, with Pakistan being ground zero for Jihadi proliferation. But hey, they are our 'allies' you know. With allies like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, who needs enemies.

As for the 'normal' Pakistani schools disseminating vitriol, I am still surprised that the State Dept is shocked at any of that. Again, what did they expect? That lil' Pakistani boys and girls were being taught to love the US and Israel? Sheesh!

And wasn't it the State Dep that was treating Chechen terrorists like they were some deposed diplomats quite recently (even the Dep of Homeland security had to step in and try to make things right, for example when the DHS strived to have Ilyas Akhmadov, a Chechen 'foreign minister' - read: terrorist - deported. The DHS obviously had the right idea, but other people thought otherwise since Akhmadov had already been issued political asylum. The DHS knew the guy was a terrorist, but others -including several in the State Dep- thought otherwise).

Sometimes i think some of the people in there need to lay off whatever the heck they are smoking.

Well, what the heck did the textbook say? Give it to us in its full ugliness. They are covering up and dancing around the facts in this story.

Well, talk about a small world! Just a few days ago I did some Google-reading about the Ahmediyas, having come across the word in something I was reading.

To all you folks out there who don't know: The Ahmediyas is a fairly sizable splinter group of Muslims who do not believe that Muhammad was the finial, one true profit sent by Allah. He was a messenger like Christ, Moses, Abraham, etc.

The Muslims in Pak (and doubtlessly else where) hate the Ahmediyas worse than pork...heck, worse then even... then even...Jews! And they will hysterically deny that Ahmediyas are in fact even Muslims.
