Ligthen up Francis...

Are any of you people reading any of this?

Tom Demartini, a construction worker who was sitting in his truck outside the store in the heart of the city, said he heard the explosion and saw the sidewalk rise up six or seven inches.

"It sounded like a big poof, then there was a lot of smoke," Demartini said. "One woman looked like she was badly burned."

Some here have thought this was cute and humorous from the beginning, making joke fit for a 13 year old boy, and you tell me to lighten up??

Would you be saying this if it was your mother laying in a burn center right now?

Ever been to a burn ward?

You think this is somehow funny and cute?

Crews from Pacific Gas & Electric were on-scene, helping police bomb squads and FBI explosive technicians with the investigation.

FReepers from certain areas of the country tend to live down to the stereotypes Hollywood has created of them.

Really, lighten up. If every news story about an explosion in a city gets you this tense, you're going to suffer health problems.

The humor you see on this list is a tension reliever. For you to suggest we are making fun of the plight of ANYONE hurt by this is absurd. YOU, not others, are misinterpreting the ebb and flow of information on this thread.

Oh Please....

No one thinks its funny that a woman was injured. What causes the humor to kick in is the irony of a "manhole" "Cover" being "Blown" causing an "explosion" in "San Francisco."

It's not terrorism despite what the man behind the curtain says. It was an accident. There is humor to be found in the wording associated with the incident.

If you really can't handle the dripping sarcasm found on this thread, I would suggest you avoid it for the time being.

Clowns:
Some children are afraid of clowns.
Frightened children are not funny.
Therefore no one should laugh at clowns.

Golf:
Lots of people are killed by lightning on golf courses.
Dead people are not funny.
Therefore no one should tell golf jokes.

Tin pot dictators:
Some people try to impose their will on others.

Some of them enforce their will by running people through chippers.
These are not funny.
Some of them enforce their will by throwing tantrums on the keyboard and trying to set themselves up as self appointed posting police.
They are not funny either.

FR is a big place. Lots of different people. We don't all like the same things. Difference is most of us ignore the parts we don't like and don't try to impose our particular likes/dislikes on each other.
