Bereaved anti-war protester Cindy Sheehan...is scheduled to come to the Roaring Fork Valley as part of a series of talks next month.
Sheehan is expected to speak at the First United Methodist Church in Glenwood Springs on Friday, Sept. 16 as part of a three-day tour of the area that will also take her to Grand Junction and Paonia.
Sheehan may also visit area schools to speak to students about military recruitment and the war in Iraq, said Gary Handschumacher, a Crawford, Colo.-based anti-war activist who arranged the visit.
"She's probably the most famous person on the planet," he said. "But I'm still hopeful (she's) planning to do it."
Jim Chenoweth, a member of the Roaring Fork Peace Coalition who will be looking after Sheehan when she is in Glenwood, said Yampah Mountain High School has agreed to host her for a talk.
"My understanding is she wants to do counter-recruiting in the schools as much as possible," he said, adding that he'd like to take Sheehan to other schools in the area as well.
Handschumacher met Sheehan about nine months ago when he interviewed her for his independently produced radio show "Speaking Freely," broadcast on community access radio station KVNF in Paonia and the North Fork Valley.

isn't that a use of church property for political purposes? Why are they still tax-exempt?

in order not to distress the more refined on here, I won't described how this b*tch deserves to be treated - so ...
the "mother protestor" should be met at the "church" steps by a line of very irate SKUNKS facing away from her.

I scratch my head when I see churches allowing the pulpit to be used for anything other than worship. Makes you wonder about the legitimacy of that church.

That rule only applies to Conservative believers.

I'll see your skunks facing away from her, and raise you a line of bulldozers facing her.
She's an earth mother?
I'm all for it.
Let's start with six feet of earth.

That is un-f--king-believeable. There needs to be a list of schools that she's plannning on attending and the need to be called so people can voice their displeasure of having their kids around this lunatic-bi--h! She has no-right to try to indoctrinate children with her hateful poison.

She has no business going to a public school and speaking to the students. I do believe that the law prohibits that. God knows, as a parent, I'd be raising HELL over it!
