Dengue fever outbreak in Mexico causing concern in Texas [Hemorrhagic Strain of the Disease]
KENS 5 Eyewitness News ^ | 08/18/2005 | Angela Kocherga

An outbreak of dengue fever in Mexico has health officials here in Texas keeping a watchful eye across the border.

More than 100 people have been infected in the southern state of Morelos. Several people have the hemorrhagic strain of the disease that causes bleeding and, if untreated, possibly death. To prevent the spread of the disease, health workers need to enlist the help of the residents.

Oswaldo Zambrano, dengue fever prevention program director, says the enemy lives among them. He warns residents that they are providing a safe haven for the mosquitoes that carry dengue fever.

Many homes have standing water, which provides a perfect breeding ground for infected mosquitoes. A chemical that is safe for human and animal consumption must be mixed into the water to prevent new infestations.

The movement of people poses another challenge. If someone from an area where there's been an outbreak of dengue fever travels to another place, that person can be bitten by mosquitoes in the new location and the infection will spread.

Thus, it is critical to control the disease in every region of Mexico and reach every home during the rainy season. And if you're planning a trip to an area of Mexico where there's outbreak, use mosquito repellant.

But I thought us racist, bigoted, anti-ILLEGAL alien FReepers were all just a bunch of "single issue" voters. You mean, ILLEGAL immigration actually involves more than one issue, such as public health issues? /sarc

Leprosy and other diseases defeated decades ago in this country are once again being imported into our school systems thanks to this invasion.

# Americans pay an estimated $8 billion annually for educating the children of illegal aliens.

# The Center for Immigration Studies in Washington has estimated that illegal aliens have cost U.S. workers $133 billion in job loses.

# Food stamps and medical benefits for undocumented immigrants cost Americans some $65 billion annually. Illegals have been running up a tab of $2.5 billion annually for Medicaid alone.

# The American Hospital Association has said the cost of uncompensated care for patients, many of them illegal aliens, amounted to more than $21 billion in a recent year. # More than 75 percent of the illegal drugs in the U.S. come across our porous borders, according to experts.

# More than one-quarter of the inmates in federal prisons are illegals – costing taxpayers $900 million a year to feed and house them.

This greatly helps in Bush's redistribution of America's wealth to Mexico. The media likes to keep this a secret and refuse to tell the public about what is going on. If anyone tries to let this get out for public consumption they are called "racist".

Would you deny prenatal care, hospital delivery, WIC and well baby programs to American citizen babies just because their mother's visa had expired? (assuming they met the same eligibility requirements as all other citizens)

Yes, deport them.

I also have family values do you? Do you believe that it is good for the government to raid businesses, arrest parents with minor children in daycare and deport them without giving them a chance to even tell their children what is happening, say goodbye or even arrange for their care? I found the Antis on FR who were cheering that government action to be just as repulsive as the Arabs who were cheering 9/11.

Yes, deport them.

"We're talking about people who are currently in Mexico and possibly carrying a deadly disease. "

You must not have finished reading the entire article. Did you miss this last sentence:
"if you're planning a trip to an area of Mexico where there's outbreak, use mosquito repellant. "

"I love President Bush"

Sure, and Cindy Sheehan and the other anti-war protesters support our troops. You can't love our President while repeating false myths invented by the Buchanan/Tancredo crowd to undermine his administration.

I'll be in Crawford on the 27th to support the troops.

Will you be there?!

Business Week July 18, 2005:

" The total goods and services that they consume through their paycheck, plus all that they produce for their employers, is close to about $800 billion. "

Plus those "costs" that you list of illegal aliens often are payments to Americans, such as emergency room doctors, teachers, grocery stores, and others who spend their salaries for goods and services provided by other Americans.

Our economy is booming. We have full employment and jobs are being created faster than we can fill them. It would be foolish to try to remove 13 million employees from America at this time.

How, by carrying a sign saying that their Commander In Chief is a quisling? By passing out flyer's saying that our troops are wasting their time defending the borders of Iraq when they could be doing something useful like patrolling our own border to keep out babysitters and gardeners?

The Buchanan/Tancredo anti-illegal movement is an anti-Bush movement that includes attacking him on every issue they can, including the War on Terror.

You can't support our troops while attacking them for not being back here guarding our borders. The Antis don't even acknowledge that our troops our defending us now by destroying terrorist support systems.

For some reason, I have an image of that Terry Gilliam animation on Monty Python with the guy going, "Blah, blah blaaah, blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah blah..." - then the top of his head flying off or something...

" The total goods and services that they consume through their paycheck, plus all that they produce for their employers, is close to about $800 billion. "

There's nothing special or magical about illegal alien workers. If legal immigrants filled these jobs, they would be the ones contributing this $800 Billion (if accurate) to our country's GDP.

Our economy is booming. We have full employment and jobs are being created faster than we can fill them. It would be foolish to try to remove 13 million employees from America at this time.

As we start deporting the illegal alien lawbreakers, we could start letting in more legal immigrants to take their place in our country's workforce. In this way, the deportations would have a minimal negative effect on our economy.

By passing out flyer's saying that our troops are wasting their time defending the borders of Iraq when they could be doing something useful like patrolling our own border to keep out babysitters and gardeners?

Actually, they're illegal alien lawbreakers.

The Buchanan/Tancredo anti-illegal movement is an anti-Bush movement that includes attacking him on every issue they can, including the War on Terror.

So, should FReepers take this to mean that you are admitting to being pro-illegal immigration?

You can't support our troops while attacking them for not being back here guarding our borders. The Antis don't even acknowledge that our troops our defending us now by destroying terrorist support systems.

More delusional ranting from the paranoid mind of bayourod.

Uh Oh! Now you've done it. You failed to get permission from your ping group commander to deviate from the official talking points.

The Antis don't want to replace one foreign worker at a time with another. That doesn't change the balance or achieve anything for them.

What you are supposed to say is that AFTER all illegals are deported and AFTER an impenetrable wall is built around America, then, and ONLY THEN will you be willing to talk about letting in legal foreign workers.

Maybe you can get the admin moderator to delete your post before the Antis put you on their quisling list.

His little group has certainly done more to undermine the republican party and make Bush look like an incompetent dolt than anything I've ever seen. That may not be his agenda, but that's what he's accomplishing. If this is all our president and troops have for "support" we are in deep , well you know. BTW, there is another article about chinese being sneaked into the country. Any one up for some bird flu?
