Several hundred people attended a vigil near the White House in Washington, chanting "meet with Cindy, tell her the truth" and "end the war now".

At least one counter-demonstration was organised by pro-war group FreeRepublic.com, prompting a heated exchange with protesters in a Washington park.

We aren't pro -war. Our country was attacked and sometimes it's necessary to stand and fight. We tried it their way and look how many people died.

"Pro-war?" The Beeb can't even offer a simple citation without spin. Ah, well - they spelled the name right, at least.

Good point. BBC isn't known for being "Fair and Balanced."

They made a good plug for FR, though. People might come here to learn the real story. That's a plus.

"The president has so far refused to agree to her request to meet him, although he says he has given her plea for troop withdrawal serious consideration."

Un-friggin-believable. These loons wouldn't know the truth if it jumped up and bit them in the *ss. You think it would kill them to admit that Sheehan has already had one meeting with the President. These people are nothing more than liars, manipulators, and terrorist-supporters.

Coming from the pro-terror network BBC, I'll accept that.

BBC has it all wrong but America has a chance to support the real true heroes in America.

The Kevin Fobbs Show on conservative newstalk WDTK 1400 AM will be honoring military family parents who have a son or daughter in harms way or may have lost a son or daughter in the current War on Terror and to support Move America Forward's week long trek to Crawford, Texas.

We want to hear from callers who are supporters on Monday. You can call in Live and toll-free 2 PM EST. at 1-800-923-WDTK ( 9385).

You can listen Live as well on the internet because the show is streamed at http://www.wdtkam.com.

Support the true heroes are American soldiers and their proud families and parents!

Drudge has another misleading headline that says Hollywood stars rally to support Sheehan. I checked out the link, which went to a bunch of news photos of protests. The closest thing I saw to Hollywood stars were Ed Begley Jr. and someone named Josh Lucas. I do nothing all day long but read news and pop culture info and write about it for radio DJs, and even I'd never heard of the guy. So I looked him up on IMDB.

Now, I'm convinced. If the star (or at least, an important supporting player) of such immortal cinema masterpieces as "Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger," "Drop Back Ten," "Hulk," and "Undertow" thinks we need to completely change our defense policy, then who are a bunch of silly Pentagon generals and White House officials to contradict him?

BTW, I think three of his films might actually be inspired by Cindy Sheehan: "The Deep End," "Around The Bend," and "American Psycho."

Saying that Free Republic is pro-war is like saying it is pro-death. It is a patent falsity. We at FR realize, however, that peace is not defined as the absence of war and are not afraid to use force. Sometimes mediation just doesn't work, contrary to liberal ideology.

I'd rather be called "pro war" than "pro appeasement" or "pro jihadist"!

Right. Her input is now included in the PDB--Presidential Dingbat Briefing.

They're lucky Churchill & Roosevelt were "pro-war" or their Neville Chamberlain "peace in our time" arses would have wound up in concentration camps. Then they dropped Churchill like a bad habit.

My Letter to Ms. Sheehan

MS. Sheehan I understand your grief over the loss of your son.

I see how your grief might be turned into hatred for the Commander and Chief who ordered him there, however indirectly.

I also agree that this war could have been avoided, at least for awhile, after all, any war can.

Where I have problems with your statements are only where I feel you do not understand, and in fact degrade, your son's sacrifice, and make no mistake it was a sacrifice.

Your son, like many others of his compatriots, volunteered to defend this country against all enemies foreign or domestic, not the enemies that the President so designates, not enemies that a Congress designates, but the enemies of the American people, enforced by our dully elected representatives.

It was not a President whom allowed this war to proceed, but a vote of the dully elected representatives of this great Nation, the Congress, twice.

If we are not bound by our elected representatives, then what kind of country our we living in.

If our fighting forces do not follow a civilian elected government (The Congress, not just the Presidency, whom some think may not have been properly elected), then what type of government do we live under.

If a minority of our dully elected officials can control the direction of our government, no matter how vehement their opposition, than I submit to you we do not live in a country that our forefathers envisioned and indeed your son would have lived or died for not.

I served for 10 years under a Commander and Chief whom I felt did not best represent the ideals of our country, but I would have given my life on his and the elected Representative Government’s orders had it been given.

My parents both disagreed with the Commander and Chief at the time that I served, but I would have EXPECTED them to have treated my death with the honor it disserved, to have said that I died serving honorably for my country, and not have tried to dishonor my death with feigned righteous indignation at a President whom I served under, with honor.
